        2009 Georgia Thunder

Georgia Thunder a second year 16UA travel team from South Georgia.  The team is made up from the top athletes from the class of 2011 from SE Bulloch, Effingham, Green Brier,  South Effingham and Screven High Schools. Our goal is to participate in ASA/USA national qualifiers, 18U tournaments and exposure showcases. The team had a successful 2008 season and made great strides in achieving the goal to be a top competitor from the southeast. 2009 should be another great year for this second year team.  The 2008 returnee’s are catcher Bridget Devlin and utility player Ansley Rushing from Southeast Bullock, pitcher/second base Kendall Usher and third base Whitney Smith from Effingham, shortstop Alexis Mercer from South Effingham, pitcher Marla Thompson and outfielder/second base Rochelle Shuman from Screven County High.  New faces to the Thunder roster are utility player Megan Keyes from South Effingham, pitcher Katie Tracy and outfielder Liz Killigan from Green Brier High.

"Sports are not merely the exercise of muscles, but it is the school of moral values and of training in courage, in perseverance, and in overcoming laziness and carelessness. There is no doubt that these values are of greatest interest for the formation of a personality, which considers sports not an end in itself but as a means to total physical, moral and social development." - John Paul II
