Georgia Juniors Volleyball Club: Program Information

All About Georgia Juniors
Dear Volleyball Enthusiast,

As you know, Georgia Juniors is a volleyball program which affords student/athletes, such as yourself, the opportunity to compete in volleyball outside the academic competitive season. We will be beginning our tenth season this November and are really excited about the progress we have made. We have gone from nineteen participants to 108, playing on nine teams. We have a team at every age level from thirteen and under to eighteen and under. In fact, last year we had two teams at the sixteen year old level and three teams at the fifteen year old level.

Our 2008 competitive achievements were awesome! Every one of our "power" teams won at least three tournaments last year. In addition, our 14's and 15's finished in the top 50 (out of 124 teams) while our 16's finished 21st at the Atlanta Qualifier, the most prestigious tournament on the east coast. Our 14's, 15's, 16's and 17's all made it to the semi-finals of the Regional Championships. Our "club" level teams also competed successfully with tournament wins and even defeated our "power" teams several times! And, for the first time, Georgia Juniors sent a team to the AAU National Championships! This five day event was held at DisneyWorld. We plan to send at least four teams next June. In addition, all five of our seniors have been accepted to compete on their collegiate teams, starting in the fall of '08.

Our goals for the coming year are to service our members at several levels. For those seeking a highly competitive experience with the goal of competing in college, we will enter them in intensely competitive "power" tournaments such as: Suwanee, Asheville, the Southern Classic, Peachtree, the Qualifier and the National Championships. We will continue to produce recruiting videos and set up recruiting seminars for the players and their parents, at a minimal cost. Our competitive schedule and our collegiate recruiting support will give you every opportunity to showcase your talents to potential collegiate coaches. There is no need to spend the exorbitant amount of money other programs charge when Georgia Juniors offers the same opportunity for one third the cost.

In addition to creating "Power" teams at every age level, we hope to be true to our original values. To that end, we will have "club" level teams with the goal of helping you learn basic skills which should help you qualify for your high school varsity team. These "club" level teams will attend local tournaments which will further reduce the cost of participating in a "travel" competitive program. The advantage of being on a "club" level team is each individual will be guaranteed playing time at every tournament. To my knowledge, no other program in the country has this policy.

Georgia Juniors is a great opportunity. We conduct two hour practices twice a week, attend six tournaments, produce recruiting videos, attend quality "power" tournaments, have teams at every age and intensity level and have a quality coaching staff.  No other Junior Olympic program offers so much for the amount we charge. There is no need to pay $1800+ when Georgia Juniors charges less than $1,000. Furthermore, in an a effort to make our program affordable to everyone, we will conduct fund raisers.

I will be sending flyers to your high school coaches later in the fall with more detailed information. In the meantime, check our website: http://eteamz.active.com/georgiajuniors/index.cfm for  the time and date of our parent's meeting and tryouts.

Thanks and have a great high school competitive season.

Our program represents many ages! We have one team for each age group, from 13 years old up to 18 years old. In fact, we are the only program in the Athens Area that sponsors a team for 18 year olds.

As you can see, we support your quest to play volleyball at the collegiate level!

 Typical Practice Schedules:

Practices are held one night during the week, usually either Tuesday or Thursday, and then again on Sundays. These practices are two hours long. In addition, we have a voluntary extra help session on Wednesday nights. These extra help sessions are essentially "private lessons", where the player can get more one-on-one time with a coach. For athletes in the program, this is at no additional cost.

Playing High School Sports, mainly Basketball, during the J.O. Season:

It is possible to participate in your middle school or high school basketball program and still participate in Georgia Juniors. Our program runs from early November until mid- April.

Number of Tournaments per Season:

Each team will attend a total of 7 tournaments. Locations include Atlanta, Chattanooga, Spartanburg and Columbia (SC). These locations serve as hosts to some of the Southeast's major tournament events, including the Southern Classic, Asheville's Hi-Neighbor, and the Peachtree Invitational.

The biggest tournament of the year, the "Qualifier" is hosted right here in Atlanta and displays over 12,000 athletes from all over the country! We participate yearly in this event.

In the past our teams have played well in these tournaments, with the 14's finishing second at the Regional Championships last spring. Congratulations!
