GEORGIA COUGARS CROWNED THE CHS FALL SLAM CHAMPIONS!
Congratulations to The Georgia Cougars on a great win in the Championship defeating the Carrollton Canes 2-1. Colby Smith (South Paulding) pitched a complete 7 inning no hit game with 8 K's. Colby was just over powering keeping a very good hitting Carrollton team off balance all night. On the other side Jennings the Cane's pitcher also did an outstanding job allowing only 2 hits with 11 K's. The two runs for the Cougars came off Avery Miller drawing a walk with Zach Cowart hitting a HUGH RBI stand-up double scoring Steven Fuller running for Miller. The other hit was Josh Baily (Landmark Christian) getting a single then stealing second and yes he also stole third. Daniel Collett hit a deep fly to RF resulting in a RBI sac fly scoring Bailey. After the Canes scored a runner that was walked making the score 2-1 Cougar's Colby Smith went into the bottom of the 7th facing the 4-5-6 hitters with a 1 run lead. He was able to get a fly ball to center for the 1st out and then got 2 K's to end the game. Freshman Nick Spencer filling in for Kimberley who is out with a sore back was outstanding behind the plate in both elimination games allowing only 1 passed ball. Spencer was able to handle the heat of both Dylan Smith and then Colby Smith. Well dome Nick!
The Georgia Cougars played well all weekend making the Championship game undefeated. Great playing with great coaching resulted in making the Championship!
On another note the Georgia Cougars had to face our very CDC Cougars in the second round of elimination. The CDC Cougars had finished as the #4 seed and won their 1st round game defeating Starr's Mill 3-1 behind a great performance of Davis Marlar pitching the complete game holding the Panthers to only 1 run. In the game between our Georgia Cougars vs our CDC Cougars Dylan Smith pitched a very good complete 1 hit game with 11 K's. For the CDC Cougars Kollin Amerson pitched the complete game doing a great job as well. Michael Hansen made several big plays in CF running down balls that should have be hits.
