Georgetown Soccer Club: GSC Coaching Staff



The Georgetown native joins Georgetown Soccer Club after a successful stint as a coach with the local recreational department. Bert possesses a wealth of coaching knowledge and experience with youth soccer. Bert now coaches the first U18 girls Soccer team with GSC "THE LADY STEELERS".





Chris coaches the U16 Steelers 2. He is a 1995 graduate of the University of South Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Georgraphy.  He later attended Clemson University where he recived his teaching certification in Social studies.  Chris has played for a number of Adult clubs in the area.  Chris has over nine years coaching experience at the High School and Club levels.  He is a member of the South Carolina Soccer Coaches Assoication, as well as the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Assoication.  Chris holds a USSF "D" license, and is currently the Head Coach for the Andrews High School Varsity Boys soccer team.



Shane is one of the founders of GSC as well as a coach in our club.  Shane coaches the U18 Steelers 1 within the club.  Shane has over eight years experience in coaching youth soccer, four of them at Club and High School levels.  Shane has a USSF National "D" license, NSCAA regional license, and has completed the NFHS coaches educational program.  In addition, Shane is currently the Head Coach for Andrews High School Varsity Girls Soccer team, and assistant coach with the AHS Varisty Boys Soccer team.




Coach Bertka is a former Roanoke, Virginia, resident.  She was Cubmaster for Clearbrook Cub Scouts Pack 219 for two years in addition to being the Webelos leader before moving to Georgetown, SC.  Vanessa is an "F" Certified coach for U12.  She has coached through Valley AFC in Roanoke, VA: U8 co-ed for 2 years, U10 for 2 years, U12 for 1 year, and assisted with the U14 girls team for 1 year.  Vanessa moved to Georgetown in October, 2007, where in she joined georgetown recreational Soccer in the fall of 2008 and coached the U10 girls team and the U18 co-ed team.
