Meeting came to order 6:10 pm
1) Shawn Williams and Michelle Green from the Kanata Canada
Day committee pitched an idea to the captains
- Diner and Silent auction to be held in May
- Captains/teams would be required to get 3 (or
more) prizes worth approximately $50 to be auctioned off
- Captains/teams would also sell tickets to the event
- Target age group of 25-55
- Proceeds from auction and bar would be split between
the Canada Day committee and GCMFL (split percentage to be negotiated at a
later date).
- Point was raise that this not only benefits the GCMFL
but the committee as a whole
- The Canada Day celebration in Kanata is not funded at
all (except for Police security) by the committee and business.
- Further discussion on partnering with
the Canada Day committee will take place at the player draft
2) Lawsuit and Police Investigation
- The league is filing a small claims against the former
treasure
- A civil lawsuit would take too long, requires lawyers
and costs too much
- A small claim of $10,000 is being filed will the goal
of garnishing the wages till the debt is paid off
- In order to garnish the wages, employment information
of the accused needs to be kept up to debt
3) Rules
- There are no new rules for the 2007 season and the
league will follow the same rules as in 2006
4) Bats
- A list of illegal bats will be
circulated
- All bats must be stamped with either ASA2001 or ASA2004
to be league.
- Only ASA2004 bats will be legal for the 2008 season
- Please check before the game if you are unsure if a bat
is legal or not.
- The result of using an illegal bat during the game is
ejection from the game
5) Balls
- The balls will be the same as last year (The yellow Red
Dot [dot4.7])
- The K-Master balls used in previous years didn't last
- Mike V needs to check with supplier on
availability
6) Registration
- Currently 110 guys registered, of these 7 are based on
verbal confirmation
- 4 teams took advantage of the new blood rule but one
has already been dropped and a second may also be dropped.
7) Schedule
- Thursday night is being dropped from the schedule
- Regular season will be played Monday 6:30/8:30, Tuesday
6:30/8:30, Wednesday 6:30 with the late slot of Wednesday reserve for make
up games.
- The tournament is Father's day weekend (June 15-17).
8) Contraction
- With the low registration numbers, the league cannot
support 12 teams.
- Both 9 and 10 team options were tabled
- 9 team schedule consists of 1 division of 16 games
- 10 team schedule consists of 1 division with 18 games,
or 2 divisions with 13 games
- another option discuss was 10 teams with 11 players
- Initial vote if league should have 9 teams: 6
for, 4 against (to close to pass, further discussion required)
- Vote on dropping KSC and State: 10 - 0 (motioned
passed)
- Vote if league should have 10 Teams: 8 for, 2
against (motioned passed)
- The matter of the 10th pitcher was discussed with Kyle
Olson and Richard Seabrook being the two options. Kyle is signed up
and the captains agreed to go with Kyle. Richard wasn't signed up as
a pitcher or player.
- Discussion on the number of games for a 10 team
league. Options include 13, 18 or 16 (unbalanced)
- No decision made on the schedule and
will be discuss at the player draft.
9) Draft Day: Protection list, New Blood and Free pick
- Protection list are due Tuesday March 20, 2007 by
midnight.
- Protection is Captain + 6 + New Blood
