2008 AGM Minutes

The Annual General Meeting for the 2008 Glen Cairn Men's Fastball League season was held in conjunction with the year-end banquet on Saturday October 13th 2008 at The Kanata Sports Club. For those who were unable to attend, here is a summary of the items discussed, voted on, and agreed to during the meeting.

  1. Finances
     
    1. The treasurer (Duane) presented a financial statement showing assets of $6573.73, liabilities of $3662.50, and a net equity of $2911.23. The report is available in the Handouts section of the web site. Troy Danyluk volunteered to perform an informal audit of the league’s finances.
       
    2. A motion was made to pay the $3662.50 owed to three league members for loans made to the league in 2006. The motion carried and the cheques were issued at the meeting. The league is officially out of debt with a balance of $2911.23 minus expenditures for the banquet food.
       
    3. Registration and sponsor fees were discussed.
       
      1. Sponsorship fees are to remain at $400, although new sponsors will have the option of supplying jerseys
      2. Membership fees will be changed slightly to help attract new players.
        1. Rookie (new to the GCMFL): $100
        2. Legacy: $130
        3. Returning: $150
  2. Rules regarding pitching were discussed.
     
    1. A motion was tabled that would have placed all pitchers in the draft. The motion carried. The order of selection for the first round of the draft will be drawn from a hat. The rest of the draft rounds will be based on reverse order of regular season standings as usual.
  1. Topics related to the mid-season tournament were discussed and it was decided that all items would be reviewed at the captains meeting in the spring of 2009. It was however decided that:
     
    1. The league would pay for 2 umpires for all tournament games. In the past, only the playoff games on Sunday had two umpires.
       
    2. The league would investigate moving the tournament date to the weekend before Father’s Day in June.
