Prerequisite Experience: None
Introduction to the game. Running bases, playing kickball, learning to throw, catch and bat using a soft baseball. Coaches are allowed on the field. Games are played at Dzantik'i Heeni, Lena Loop and Cope Park.
T-Ball 6-7 years old
Prerequisite Experience: None
Very basic fundamentals as listed above.
Minor A Baseball 7-9 years old
Prerequisite Experience: 1 year T-Ball for 7 year olds.
Coach / machine pitch using safety baseballs. Coaches allowed on the field. Games and practices are played at Mendenhall River and Auke View fields. One practice and one game per week
Minor AA Baseball 8-10 years old
Prerequisite Experience: Try-Out/Skill Assessment
Player / coach pitch using safety baseballs. Developmental league building upon the foundation of Minor A. Games and practices played at Mendenhall River and Auke View fields. One practice and one game per week
Minor AAA Baseball 9-12 years old
Prerequisite Experience: Try-Out/Skill Assessment.
Player pitch using standard baseballs. Intermediate developmental league playing modified Majors rules. This league is intended to prepare players to play Majors. Games and practices are played at Glacier Valley and Auke View.
Majors Baseball 10-12 years old
Prerequisite Experience: Try-Out/Skill Assessment.
Competitive baseball program playing 2-3 games per week. Games and practices are played at Glacier Valley and Auke View.
Juniors Baseball 12-14 years old
Prerequisite Experience: Try-Out/Skill Assessment.
Competitive baseball program playing 2-3 games per week. Games and practices are played at Melvin Park, Auke View and Adair-Kennedy. 12 year olds may try out but may not be selected to play in this division. If a 12 year old plays in this division they will not be eligible to play Majors Allstars
Seniors Baseball 14-16 years old
Prerequisite Experience: Try-Out/Skill Assessment.
Competitive baseball program playing 2-3 games per week. Games and practices are played at Adair-Kennedy, Melvin Park, and Auke View.
Farm League Softball
Prerequisite Experience: 1 year T-Ball experience for 6 year old, otherwise, none.
Ages:6-8
Beginning skills development and game rule introduction. T-Ball and coach pitch using safety softballs. Coaches allowed on the field. Games and practices are played at Melvin Park and Lena Loop. One practice and one game per week.
Note: In years when the farm player pool is small, the farm division has been combined with the minor league division playing under the minor league rules and schedule. In this instance, 6-7 year olds have the option of playing T-Ball baseball.
Minor League Softball
Experience: Try-Out/Skills Assessment:
Ages: 7-11
Player and coach pitch using standard softball. Developmental league playing modified Majors rules. Games and practices are played at Melvin Park and Lena Loop. Two games per week with one scheduled practice.
Little League Softball - Majors Division
Prerequisite Experience: Try-Out/Skill Assessment.
Ages: 10-12
Competitive softball program usually playing 2 games per week (1 weeknight/1 Saturday) with a scheduled practice during the week. Games and practices are played at Melvin Park and Lena Loop.
Little League Softball - Juniors Division
Prerequisite Experience: Try-Out/Skill Assessment.
Player Ages: 12-15
Junior division softball is a competitive softball program usually playing 2 games per week with one practice during the week.(Games usually scheduled for one weeknight and one on Saturday.) Games and practices are played at Melvin Park and Lena Loop. 12 year olds may try out but may not be selected to play in this division. If a 12 year old player plays in this division they will not be eligible to play Majors All-stars.
If skill level is appropriate, or there is not a viable senior level softball division, the league may elect to allow 15 year old players to play in the Junior division. A 15 year old player would not be eligible for Junior League All-stars.
