                                          News Story Response

Dear Parents & Sponsors

You may be aware of a news story posted on Wednesday January 11th, 2017, that involved the previous President of a Green youth baseball group. We want to assure you that this group has no affiliation, or connection to Green Baseball Softball Federation (GBSF).

GBSF has been serving the residents of our community since 1958 by providing well organized baseball, and softball leagues for children from 4 to 18 years of age. We have over 600 children enjoying baseball or softball under the GBSF organization that includes both rec and travel levels. GBSF has a long history supporting other Green community organizations also such as Green High School Baseball and Softball programs, Bulldog Dash, Green Schools Foundations Celebration of Education, and donating registrations to school fund raising events. GBSF is also highly committed to ensuring any child that wants to play baseball or softball is given that opportunity regardless of the financial situation. No child is ever turned away for monetary reasons. We are proud of our service to the community and we want you to be proud to have your child participate with us.

We appreciate the trust you place in us when you register your child in GBSF, or choose to sponsor our efforts. We want to assure you we take our responsibilities very seriously and we will continue to do so. Thank you for your support

Tips for first time sport parents & for a positive Coach/Parent Relationship

Should your child focus on one sport or play multiple sports?

If you have children in sports you may have thought about this, or heard suggestions from others. Children are pushed more and more these days to start to focus on a sport early. As parents you will likey even hear this from coaches in some sports, which is a shame! Playing multipe sports develops athleticism more, lets kids learn more about team work, and helps kids decide what sport they may really like the most.

Here is a great discussion with the Cleveland Indians Player Development staff on this topic!

Here is another very interesting article regarding the increased incidense of injuries in atheletes who specilaize in one sport.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About GBSF: Green Baseball/Softball Federation has been operating as a 501c3 volunteer based organization for more than 53 years in the city of Green. We play under the PONY (Protect Our Nations Youth) rules, which most baseball & softball players in the U.S. participate under. PONY rules are more like MLB rules and teach children to learn more of the game while they also play on more realistic field dimensions. There IS a difference in baseball/softball organizations in Green and only GBSF has the long standing history of serving Green as well as High School level coaching input and clinics. We provide the best baseball and softball instruction to the youth (ages 4 - 18) of Green and the security of thorough background checks for all Head Coaches. Our revenue from registration stays in Green and goes directly to cover the cost of equipment, uniforms, umpires, and to benefit the GBSF registered players in Green! No funds go to a National organization under GBSF. Our clincs are held in March, practices begin in April with games taking place staring the first week in May and running through June.

This site has been created to provide more information about our organization and help communication with the community of Green. Please enjoy the site and contact us if you have any comments or questions. Please feel free to become a member of the site and use the message board. This could be a good way for the community to discuss issues relating to the play of baseball and softball in Green. There is no charge to become a member.
