The 3rd Place Game between the Penguins and the Avalanche saw the Avalanche jump out to a commanding 7-0 lead in the first half, as Adrian Pinzon tallied 4 goals, Anthony Kuzmenko scored 2, and Justin Martin added one for the Avs. Jimmy Girgus scored the lone Penguins goal, as the Avalanche had a 7-1 halftime lead. Jimmy would score the first goal of the second half for the Penguins, but Adrian Pinzon got another one and Charlie Kuzmenko scored 2 more for the Avalanche for a 10-2 lead, before the scoring for the game was closed out by the Penguins David Roushdy, as the Avalanche won the 3rd Place trophy by a margin of 10-3. In the Championship Game, we had a great battle between the Lightning and the Wolfpack. The Wolfpack got the first lead of the game, as Zach Giamundo netted one for them to make it 1-0 Wolfpack. But just 3 minutes later, Alek Minishak scored for the Lightning to tie it at 1-1 and thats how it stayed until Tyler Kulisz notched one with just a minute and a half left in the half, and the Lightning held a slim 2-1 lead at halftime. The second half saw a lot of great defense, along with terrific goaltending, as the goalies, Corey Fewer of the Wolfpack and Danny Farrell of the Lightning held allowed no goals for nearly the entrire period. But the Lightning then struck in the last two and a half minutes for goals from Alek Minishak and Ryan Martins as they took the U8 Division Championship by a final score of 4-1. The Wolfpack would still get some revenge after the game was over, though. After Lightning coach Jeff Greenman kidnapped the Wolfpack mascot The Wolf, all the Wolfpack players skated over to the Lightning side and rescued The Wolf from Mr. Greenmans clutches. What a great way to end a great Championship Game and season for our U8 Division!

U10 Division: Crushers Crush the Competition!!
![]() |
In second round action, the Devils faced the regular season first place finisher, the D & M Trophies Crushers. Luke Rizzoli got the Devils on the board first in this one, just 3 minutes into the game for a quick 1-0 lead. That lead would be short-lived though, as the Crushers responded by scoring five unanswered goals, as Jaysen Correa got a hat trick and James Hansell and Nick Coelho scored, and the Crushers staked themselves out to a commanding 5-1 halftime lead. The second half looked a lot like the first, as Jaysen Correa and Jimmy Digiorgio scored goals for the Crushers, while Chris Lubrano got one back for the Devils to make it a 7-2 Crushers lead. Nick Coelho and Ben Gomes added late goals for the Crushers, who rolled onto a 9-2 victory to advance to the Championship Game. The other second round game proved to be a real thriller, as the Event Capital Blackhawks took on the Carroccia Building Blazers. The Blazers would start the scoring in the wild one, as Aaron Standish and Colin Chang scored for an early 2-0 Blazers lead. The Blackhawks Dillon Robinson would get one back, but that was answered by the Blazers Dustin Demarsico, as the Blazers took a 3-1 lead into halftime. But the Blackhawks got rolling in the second half, as Tyler Hardgrove scored a natural hat trick (3 unanswered goals) to give the Blackhawks their first lead at 4-3. Akshay Rao then scored to make it a 5-3 Blackhawks lead. The, with the cloick winding down to just a little over 8 minutes left, Brian Dempsey scored to get the Blazers to within one goal at 5-4. As the clock was winding down to just a little over 5 minutes left, John Hansell got the equalizer for the Blazers to tie the game at 5-5. But just a few seconds later, the see saw battle continued, as Mathew Celeste put the Blackhawks back in the lead at 6-5. As this mighty struggle came down to the last 3 and a half minutes, Brian Dempsey tied the game at 6-6 and the game looked like it might go to overtime. But with just a minute and a half left, Aaron Standish scored to put the Blazers on top at 7-6. Both teams battled fiercely in the last minute and a half, but the Blazers hung on for the 7-6 win to advance to the Championship Game. What a game!
In the 3rd Place Game, which pitted the Blackhawks against the Devils, the Devils struck first on goals by Chris Lubrano and Paul Appleton for an early 2-0 lead. Dillon Robinson and Kevin Greenman got the game tied for the Blackhawks moments later, as the scored was suddenly knotted at 2-2. But just before the half ended, the Devils Luke Rizzoli scored to give them a 3-2 halftime lead. In the second half, Chris Lubrano extended the Devil;s lead to 4-2 with his second of the game, only to be answered a few seconds later by the Blackhawks Kevin Greenman to make it a 4-3 game. Chris and Kevin then traded goals again to make it a 5-4 game, but the it was all Chris Lubrano the rest of the way, as he scored 3 more times for an amazing total of 6 goals and the only double hat trick of the entire Spring 2007 season. The Devils came away with the 3rd Place trophy by a score of 8-3. The Championship game was next, as the Blazers faced off against the Crushers. The first half would prove to be a great battle between two determined teams. The Blazers notched the first goal as Dustin Demarsico netted one for them, but the Crushers answered quickly on a goal by Cody Sorrentino and the game was tied 1-1 after the first 10 minutes. Alec Friedman got the next goal of the game to give the Blazers a 2-1 lead and with rain coming down steadily towards the end of the first half, it looked like that score might be all the Blazers needed. But the Crushers got another one from Cody Sorrentino to get the game tied at 2-2, which was the score at halftime. The weather cleared up and that appeared to help the Crushers, who really got things going in the second half, as they got 2 goals from Jaysen Correa, one from Jimmy DiGiorgio, and one from Brian Coelho to come away with the U10 Division Championship by a score of 6-2. The Crushers wound up the season with only one loss, and finished the deal by winning the Championship. The U10 Division was a truly competitive one and provided a lot of excitement. Thanks for a great Spring 2007 guys!!

U13 Division: The Warriors Emerge Victorious!!

Our U13 Division was another source of terrific playoff action in Spring 2007! The first Round saw the regular season 3rd place MJR Consulting Titans face off against the JRC Service River Rats. The Titans got the fast jump in this one, as Chris Robinson scored 4 consecutive goals for an early 4-0 Titan lead. It wouldnt stop there for the Titans, as Steven Sarnowski and Zach Iverson added two more, and the Titans rode a 6-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, after Chris Robinson notched his fifth goal of the game, the River Rats got their first of the game, as C.J. Girgus scored to make it a 7-1 game. The Titans were relentless, though, as Justin Capella and Robert Lally added two more for a commanding 9-1 lead. The River Rats did manage two more goals down the stretch though, as Corey Paltjon scored and C.J. Girgus got his second of the game. But the Titans prevailed by a final score of 9-3 in this one. In the other First Round Game, the Metro Wire Rope Panthers met the Fords Jewelers Ducks. The Panthers were on the board first in this one, as Karl Koliver, Ryan Chang, and Peter Chang made it an early 3-0 lead. But just before the half ended, the Ducks got one from Vinny Martin and the score stood at 3-1 Panthers at half time. In the second half, after Ryan Chang struck for his second of the game, the Ducks got a natural hat trick from Nick Martin to tie the game at 4-4. But with the clock ticking down to the last 3 minutes, Ryan Chang would add two more goals in a span of a minute and a half, for a total of 4 on the day and Chris Villa would add one for good measure, as the Panthers prevailed by a score of 7-4.
Round 2 action saw perhaps the most thrilling of all our Spring 2007 games happen in the game between the Qualcare Sharks vs the MJR Consulting Titans. What an incredible see saw battle this one was! Damien Quense scored for the Sharks just 10 seconds into the contest, only to see that lead vanish seconds later on a Titans goal by Chris Robinson, to tie the game at 1-1. Connor Dempsey then scored for the Titans for their first lead, but this time the Sharks had the answer, as Ben Neri notched his first of the game to tie it at 2-2. Robert Lally gave the lead back to the Titans with about 8 minutes left in the first half, but this time it was Mathew Todtenkopf getting the equalizer for the Sharks to make it a 3-3 game. It was then Chris Robinsons turn to give the lead back to the Titans, but it was also Damien Quenses turn to get it back, and once again we were tied, this time at 4-4, which is how things stood at halftime. The second half would prove to be a lot like the first half, as once again the Titans got the lead back, provided by Chris Robinsons third goal for the hat trick. But you guessed it the Sharks once again answered that with a goal by Sam Wolfson, and the game was tied yet again, at 5-5. Then the Titans did something neither team had done the whole game within a span of one minute they scored two goals, by Justin Capella and Connor Dempsey, to take the first 2 goal lead of the game at 7-5. Would that hold up?? Not the way this game went! With just 5 and half minutes left, Ben Neri scored and then with time winding down to the last minute and half Sam Wolfson tied the game at 7-7 with his second of the game. Thats how regulation ended and then we went through the five minute overtime with no goals scored. That led to the only shootout game of the entire playoffs. The Shootout started with a goal by Chris Robinson. After the Sharks missed their first shot, Justin Capella scored for the Titans. It was then up to Sam Wolfson of the Sharks and he came through to keep the Shark hopes alive. But then Robert Lally scored for the Titans, clinching the shootout win for them and ending the game that clearly was our most thrilling of our entire Spring 2007 playoffs!! The other Second Round game featured the Metro Wire Rope Panthers vs the Investors Savings Bank Warriors. The Warriors were pretty much in control for much of this one oin the first half, as they emerged with a 4-0 lead on 2 goals by Josh Katzen, one by Derek Cumminsky, and one by Stephen Rachko. In the second half, the Warriors kept rolling as Frankie Buonvicino scored 2 and Anthony Lubrano notched his first of the game, for a commanding 7-0 Warrior lead. The Panthers did get on the board though, as Ryan Chang got one for them to make it a 7-1 game. But the Warriors just kept going as Josh Katzen completed his hat trick and Derek Cumminsky notched his second of the game, as the Warriors had themselves a convincing 9-1 win to advance to the Championship Game.
The 3rd Place Game saw the Panthers face off against the Sharks, who got the lead early in this one on a pair of goals by Mathew Todtenkopf.. Ben Neri would add another one just before the half ended, and the Sharks had the 3-0 advantage by halftime. The Sharks continued to roll into the second half, as goals by Sam Wolfson, Damien Quense, Ben Neri, and Jessie Anson gave them a commanding 7-0 lead. After Peter Chang got the Panthers on the board, Brandon McSorley got that one back quickly to make it an 8-1 Sharks lead. Peter Chang would score the Panthers final goal in the closing minutes, and Damien Quense would do the same for the Sharks, who won the 3rd Place trophy by a score of 9-2. Next was the Championship contest between the Titans and the Warriors. Frankie Buonvicino got the scoring going in this one as he netted the first 2 scores for the Warriors for a quick 2-0 lead. Soon after that, Stephen Rachko scored and Joshua Katzen added 2 more for the Warriors, who took a 5-0 lead into half time. The Titans tried mightily to put something on the scoreboard in the second half, but the Warriors goaltender, Thomas Chavez was equal to the task. The Warriors would get 2 more goals in the second half, scored by Frankie Buonvicino and Joshua Katzen, who completed his hat trick. The Warriors took the U13 Championship by a 7-0 count and completed a dominating season in the U13 Division. Special thanks to all our U13 teams, who provided us with some of the most exciting moments of our Spring 2007 season!!

U17 Division: The Bruins Win It All!!
![]() |
Our U17 Division would provide us with some great hockey action, as our fastest and toughest division really showed us some exciting moments. In the only Round one game, we had the regular season fourth place Andrews Tree Care Kings taking on the fifth place Oksenhorn Jewelers Maple Leafs. The Kings got things rolling early in this one, as Nick Abbatemarco put them ahead 1-0. That lead was later erased by Nick Panella, who tied the game at 1-1 for the Maple Leafs with about 12 minutes left in the first half. Sandro Correa quickly got the lead back for the Kings a moment later with his first goal of the playoffs, and then with time winding down to the last minute of play in the half, Nick Perrette scored for the Kings as well, to give them a 3-1 advantage by half time. In the second half, Nick Panella got the Maple Leafs to within a goal with his second of the game, but Nick Perrette got it right back for the Kings, who led 4-2. But Nick Panella completed his hat trick and a very determined Maple Leafs team cut the lead to 4-3 with 6 minutes left in the game. Then the Kings Nick Abbatemarco scored with 2 minutes left in the game and Billy Lester added an empty netter a moment later to seal the victory for the Kings, who advanced to the next round with a 6-3 victory.
Next it was Round 2, which saw the Kings face off against the regular season first place team, the Sign A Rama Barracudas. The Barracudas only loss during the season was to the Kings, so this was, as expected, an interesting matchup. The Barracudas Dan Weiniger scored first in this one, but the Kings Nick Abbatemarco answered right back a moment later to tie it at 1-1. But the Barracudas struck for 2 more goals, scored by Patrick Purcell and Dan Weiniger, for a 3-1 lead. Billy Lester would get one back for the Kings to cut the lead to 3-2, and thats how it stood at halftime. Nick Abbatemarco would complete the comeback for them within the first minute of the second half, and the game was suddenly tied at 3-3. After Dam Weiniger added another one for a 4-3 Barracudas lead, Sandro Correa got things tied again for the Kings at 4-4. With about 8 minutes left, Dan Weiniger would notch his fourth of the game to once again give the Barracudas the lead at 5-4. But with time winding down to the last 5 minutes, the Kings went on a power play and once again it was Nick Abbatemarco scoring one to tie it at 5-5. Then, with about 2 and half minutes left, Nick scored the go ahead goal, as the Kings took their first lead at 6-5. With time winding down, Nick Abbatemarco added an empty netter to make it 7-5. Dan Weiniger got the Barracudas closer, as he scored with 45 seconds left to make it 7-6. But Nick scored one more, another empty netter and his 6th of the game, and the Kings rode Nicks remarkable performance into the Championship Game. In the other second Round game, the Golds Gym Rangers took on the Carrabbas Bruins. What a defensive struggle this one was! In the first half, both goalies were brilliant as Andrew Todtenkopf of the Bruins and Laura Sammon of the Rangers kept both teams off the board and amazingly, the score stood at 0-0 at half time. The goals started coming in the second half, though, as Brandon Lipke netted one, as did Mike DiPaolo, and the Bruins had a 2-0 lead. But the Rangers fought back, and with just under 9 minutes left, they scored two goals, both by Kyle Van Decker, in a span of just 40 seconds, and suddenly the game was knotted at 2-2. The game looked like it might head to overtime, but then with a little over a minute left, Brando Lipke scored for the Bruins, and then Mike DiPaolo added another, as the Bruins came away with a last minute 4-2 victory.
In the U17 3rd Place game, the Rangers faced off against the Barracudas. Mike Lefanto got the Rangers on the board first, but Brian Weiniger answered for the Barracudas to tie the game at 1-1 five minutes into the contests. Both teams battled mightily, but neither could push across another goal for the rest of the first half as the score remained 1-1 at the half. Mike LeFanto scored again for the Rangers for the 2-1 lead, but right after that Jimmy Sammon notched his first of the game to even it at 2-2. The Rangers then scored two more, off the sticks of Patrick Sammon and Mike LeFanto for a 4-2 lead. The Barracudas tried to battle back with Jimmy Sammons second goal of the game to make it 4-3, but the Rangers outlasted the Barracudas in the brutal heat the rest of the way. Both benches were short, but it finally took its toll on the Barracudas, as the Rangers pulled away with 4 more unanswered goals in the final minutes, scored by Josh Katzen, Mike Lefanto, Marc Keyasko, and Anthony Parascondola, to come away with and 8-3 victory for the 3rd place trophy. The Championship game pitted the Kings against the Bruins, to see who would be King of the U17 Division for Spring 2007. The Bruins definitely had the upper hand in the first half, as Brandon Lipke notched a hat trick and Mike Dipaolo scored to make it a 4-0 half time lead for the Bruins. In the second half, Nick Abbatemarco scored to cut the lead to 4-1, but the Bruins would get that back on a goal by William Haskell for a 5-1 Bruins lead. As the clock was winding down, it seemed that the Bruin lead was safe, but then suddenly the Kings came to life in the waning moments as Nick Abbatemarco scored a natural hat trick. All of a sudden, a game that looked like a game that was in the bank for the Bruins turned out to be a real nail biter, as now the score was 5-4 Bruins. But then, with a little over 2 minutes left, Brandon Lipke scored a clutch goal for the Bruins for a 6-4 lead. Billy Lester scored for the Kings in the last few seconds, but it was not enough, as the Bruins won the Championship crown in the U17 Division by a 6-5 score. The Bruins breathed a sigh of relief as what seemed to be a game never in question turned out to be a real thriller at the end. Thanks to all our U17 teams for a great season!!
