Fundraisers
Participating in AAU/YBOA take a great financial commitment. The Georgia Pearls Girls Basketball Club coordinates fundraisers to assist parents with that commitment. In the 3 years that we have been competing, there have been several players to pay off their balance by participating in 1 or all of the fundraisers. If you participate, then it will decrease the amount you will have to pay out of pocket. Once your account is paid in full, fundraising is still needed to assist in paying for Nationals. Since we are a 501 C 3 federally recognized organization, donations and sponsorships are tax deductible. Funds that are given can be for the TEAM or ORGANIZATION (i.e.: donations for team travel). Donations cannot be for an individual because you are paying for a service or product. There is an 80/20 split on all fundraisers. 20% is to offset organization operation. 1. Coke Sales: (January 30th-February 18th) and (May 1st 13th) The Coke Sale is a great way to pay off your fees completely. We sell coke products and receive a percentage of our sales. 2. Shoot-A-Thon: (February 7th February 11th in practice) and (February 28th March 2 in practice) The Shoot-A-Thon has been very beneficial to some players because they are able to get donations and pledges. This is also a great way to get the players involved in paying for their participation. You are responsible for submitting funds that were pledged. 3. Scratch-off (Place orders every 2 weeks starting January 30th (YOU MUST PAY $20 TO ORDER BOOKLETS) This is a new fundraiser that we are conducting and it creates a win-win situation. The scratch-off consists of a booklet customized with the name and logo of our organization, which we will give to each player. The booklet has 50 scratch-off circles with hidden donation amounts ranging from $.50 to $3.00. The donor is asked to scratch off two or more circles and donate the total amount uncovered. In return for their donation and regardless of the amount, the donor receives valuable coupons from different stores. The player then takes the booklet and continues asking other people to scratch and donate until it is completely uncovered. Each booklet comes with a pack of 30 coupon sheets. When a booklet is completed, it will produce $100.00 in donations. Each booklet cost $20, so each player actually makes $80 per booklet. Our coupons will be from: Ø Pizza Hut, Captain Ds, Jiffy lube, Churches, Sonics, AMC Theater, Blimpies, JC Penneys. |
