Leadership And Development of our Youth in Sports
Leadership And Development of our Youth in Sports (LADYS), Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)3 not-for-profit community service organization committed to empowering young girls ages 9-16 spiritually, academically, and athletically by developing educational and scholastic programs that increased young girls participations in sports and physical fitness. Started in 1996 by Hall of Famer Darlene Beale Norris, LADYS, Inc. has created opportunities in sports for young girls to learn, compete and achieve. The mission of LADYS, Inc. is to "teach them all and make sure everyone learns them well", which serves as a background premise for success. Our programs include:
• Saturday Basketball School: a 10-week skill based program, designed to teach girls the fundamentals of basketball. During the 2 hour sessions, players are taught the fundamentals with simplicity and understanding. Each session is only on Saturdays and is hosted at a Clayton or Henry County School or facility in the fall.
• Georgia Pearls Girls Basketball Club: Are basketball teams that participate in tournaments and leagues throughout Georgia and neighboring states all year. There are competitive teams that participate in AAU and YBOA competition in the spring as well as Collegiate Exposure teams. For more information go to our website at: www.gapearls.com
• Georgia Basketball School: is a training program designed to teach basketball skills and techniques that will enhance a player’s performance to give them a winning edge. Each class, camp or clinic is coordinated to teach players the fundamentals of basketball breaking down each skill concept to its simplest form. for more information visit: www.thegabasketballacademy.com
• Project P.A.S.S.: Project to Prepare Athletes for Scholastic Success is a program to inform and assist aspiring future college athletes. The program includes SAT Prep Courses, Workshops on Recruit readiness, and College campus tours.
