Wednesday, February 3
Six Teams, Seven Days, One National Title

Gridiron Australia, the governing body of American Football (Gridiron) has selected Melbourne to host the 2010 Senior National Championship Tournament, to be held at the State Netball/Hockey Centre in Parkville on April 10-16, 2010.  This will be the first time Melbourne has hosted the event.

Competing in the tournament will be six state teams from across Australia:  Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, and the ACT.  New South Wales, the four-time defending champion, will look to protect its’ title again against all comers.  This tournament has particular importance to the Victorian side, as Victoria has played NSW in each of the last three Grand Finals, only to come up short each time.  This year however, Victoria will have home field advantage.

In attendance as a special guest will be Bill Lemonnier, a senior referee in the Big-10, a premier conference in the NCAA  (college) competition in the USA.

Outstanding players from this tournament will also be selected to the Australian National Team, The Outback Squad, for its Gridiron World Cup campaign, to be held in Austria in 2011.
