Summer Baseball Winds Down
The Gallatin 17-U American Legion team will wrap up summer baseball this week in the High School Division State Tournament. The tournament runs from Thursday until Sunday at Vol State Community College. Gallatin will open Thursday against Franklin County. Other teams include: Coffee County, Lebanon, White House, Shelbyville, and Tullahoma.
The Summer has gone well for the Green Wave players, building some exciting momentum for the 2010 season. Several young players have developed, joining the experienced players from 2009 to form a solid team this summer. Pitching and defense have been very good overall, while the offense has shown to be very efficient. The team made strong showings against high-level competition in runner-up finishes at the Cleveland State Summer Classic and the Smokies Classic in Knoxville, as well as a runner-up finish at the White House Wood Bat Classic. All of the tournaments were great exposure tools for our players individually. Upcoming Seniors Tyler Scott, Joey Willaims, and Chandler McCauley have had great summer seasons. Scott and Williams were selected to the TBCA Junior Showcase team, while McCauley and Scott have earned invites to professional team workouts. These 3 seniors, along with senior Cody Wix, will be expected to lead a young team to new success in 2010. Wednesday, June 10
