9th Annual Altoona Classic
The 9th Annual Altoona Classic to be held on May 30 - June 1 is full at all age divisions. The response has been overwhelming. As a result, we have secured four more fields for each day of the tourney allowing 8 more teams to enter, bringing the total number of teams to 44..........our largest tourney to date. We expect this to be a great tournament in all age divisions. Teams from across Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska will be in attendance.

Another BIG Thank You to Prairie Meadows
Through the Prairie Meadows Community Betterment grant awarded to GAGSA late in 2007, we were able to begin construction on a 6th field for our girls use in 2008. The generous grant will cover nearly one-third of the total cost of construction.
Thank you to Prairie Meadows for their assistance in helping improve the quality of our program!

MWA donated $2500 towards much needed new trash receptacles at our complex. Thanks to MWA for helping improve our facilities.

Central Iowa Umpires Kickoff Classic/USSSA National Qualifier
We are pleased to announce that Altoona Girl's Softball will be hosting an early USSSA National Qualifier Tournament on April 19th and 20th. This will be a 4GG tourney with two pool games playing into a double elim championship bracket- No "if" game for the championship. Entry form and contact inforamtion can be uploaded by clicking on the "Handouts" section.

2008 Fundraiser Info
We will be using "Club's Choice" for our fundraising efforts again this year. We've had a lot of success with them in the past, and they put out a good product. As in the past, we will be giving out individual awards to the top sellers. Here are the prizes that will be awarded:
First Place -- 4 Adventureland Passes - Value = $300
Second Place - 2 Adventureland Passes - Value = $150
Third Place - GC to Hometeam Sporting Goods - Value = $75
Our fundraising efforts have helped pay for upgrades to the concession stand, a new field, and upgrades to our equipment. Thanks to everyone for their effort and participation with this work.

A BIG THANK YOU TO PRAIRIE MEADOWS!
We remodeled our concession stand this year, and we hope that everyone will enjoy the better working environment, as well as the new menu options we plan to have both this year and in future years due to the better usage of space.
We want to thank Prairie Meadows for their generous grant to help make that project pssible.

GAGSA Merchandise Available
The board has approved a new logo for the Greater Altoona Girls' Softball Association. That logo will appear on uniform t-shirts for all league participants.
Merchandise with the logo will also be on sale to the public. Items include a pullover jacket, short- and long-sleeved t-shirts, polo shirts and sweatshirts. Merchandise and prices will be available at registration, as well as the concession stand.
