2011 Fire Challenge in Dahlonega, Ga. July 22rd - 24th.

ENTRY FORM:   ...

Wednesday, July 14
Ga. Fire/Wilson Select Team play in Puerto Rico

JULY 13th:    Game 1:  Wilson Select defeated the National Puerto Rican team 1 to 0 in game 1.   Sarah McCloud pitched a gem and some clutch hitting as well as fantastic defensive plays gave the US team the win.    Game 2:  Wilson Select was defeating the Puerto Rican Jr. team 1 to 0 when the rains came.  This game will be played on July 14th at 1 pm.

JULY 14th:    Game 1:  Make up from yesterdays' game 2 postponed until Thursday, 7/15.
Due to rain today we we transported to different fields across the island. Finally at 6:30 pm we got to play but only 1 game against the National team.  Sarah Phillips pitched a dandy but in the top of the 7th the PR National teams scored a run and defeated us, 1 to 0.  Game 2 will be made up later in the week.

JULY 15th:   Game 1 vs PR Jr. Team.    Won 7 to 1.   Great pitching by Norie Mueller and some key hits.    Game 2 vs PR Jr. Team.   Won 2 to 1 in last inning on a passed ball.  Hate to win that way but thankful for the win.   Great pitching by Sarah McCloud and Christina Ezell.  Rained the entire game on and off.    MAKEUP GAME from July 13th.   We defeated the PR Jr. team by a score of 4 to 0.

 JULY 16th:    COMPLETE RAINOUT

JULY 17th:    Wilson Select will play the Worth Select in a double header at 2 pm and 4 pm if a dry field can be found.   COMPLETE RAINOUT.  Will try to play Worth team again tomorrow.

JULY 18th:     Game 1:   Worth 8 to 0 over our Wilson team.  Errors after errors led to 6 unearned runs.  Sarah Phillips pitched a great game and didn't deserve a loss.  Game 2:  Sarah McCloud was masterful on the mound.  The game was tied 1 to 1 after 7 innings.  In ITB Wilson scored first to go ahead on Adrena Anderson's speed.  She scored on a passed ball and bad throw.   In the bottom of the inning Wilson once again made an error that allowed Worth to score 2 runs to win the game 3 to 2.

JULY 19th:     Game 1:   Wilson played the PR Jr. team and defeated them 11 to 0 after 5 innings.  Christina Ezell was fabulous.  Her mix of off speed and rise balls make her untouchable.    Game 2:   SEMI Final:    Wilson took on the PR National team.  Leading 1 to 0 after 4 innings the game was called due to more rain.  The tournament was finally called off after all efforts were made to complete the game.

MANY THANKS TO OUR NEW FRIENDS IN PUERTO RICO.  THE WEATHER JUST WOULDN'T COOPERATE ALL WEEK BUT WILSON SELECT ENJOYED THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE AT THIS HIGH LEVEL.
