Georgia Dixie Softball: Welcome
2012 is upon us and most leagues have started play. This year we have a new District 2 director, Karla Tuggle. Her contact information is in the new 2012 Rule Guide. She replaces Ronda Diaz. We greatly appreciate the service the Ronda gave to Georgia DSI and wish her well as she spends more time with her grandchild.
Baldwin County will be hosting this year's State Tournament and the dates are posted on the July Calender. Check your Rule Guide for information regarding the X-Play initiatives in Angels and Ponytails age divisions. Many of you have asked for stealing in Angels and more aggressive style play in the Ponytails and now it is available. For those programs desiring to continue with Traditional play, we will have tournaments for traditional play up through and including the World Series.

Congratulations are in order for the Georgia Angels (from Jones County National League) and the Georgia Ponytails (from Columbia County). Both were runner-up in their respective World Series at Georgetown and Hartsville, South Carolina. This is a big accomplishment for these teams, their leagues and for the state of Georgia. This is the first time that an Angels team has come home with a competition trophy from a World Series and the first time for a Ponytails fast pitch team. Georgia has had winners and runner-ups in the Debs and Belles (and twice in Ponytails slow pitch). I am very excited about the improved level of play and look forward to many more teams from Georgia bringing home "hardware" from future World Series. Our other teams had a great time at their series, only wanting to win more games but still having a great time. I have heard nothing but positive reports from our players and coaches. I also received superlative compliments on the Angels X-Play team for their sportsmanship. I am proud of all our Georgia teams. It has been a great season and our Belles and Debs will be heading toward Powhatan either today or tomorrow for the World Series. We wish them well and hope they bring some more hardware back to Georgia. Again congratulations to all our leagues, hope you have a great off season and look forward to seeing you next year.
