Mike has enjoyed being a volunteer umpire for more than 14 years. He began calling games for Senoia Area Little League in 1995 and became their umpire in chief two years later. After working numerous district and state games, he was recommended for the Southern Regional Little League Baseball Tournament in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1998. While there, he received a recommendation for the Little League World Series. Representing Georgia and the Southern Region, Mike umpired games in the 2000 Little League World Series in Williamsport Pennsylvania. In 2005, he was selected yet again for a regional tournament, this one being a Senior League Regional Tournament where he earned another World Series Recommendation.
