2006 Panthers This Week - July 10
"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 2006-07

From a three week lay-off to a very busy couple of weeks.  The Panthers will be visiting the home of the "2006 Robbie Tournament Champions", the Georgetown Mustangs on Thursday July 13, 2006 at 7:00pm.   The Mustangs are coming off of a victory on Tuesday night, and will be hungry for another.

The SRSL League Cup begins for the Panthers on Sunday July 16, 2006 at 9:00am.  The League Cup round will open with a game against the Burlington Tigers on Field Three at the Caledon Sports Complex.

Please Note: The Caledon Sports Complex will NOT be supplying a field to field shuttle service on Sunday.  If you want to watch the Brams/Dixie or the Georgetown/Niagara Falls game(s), both of which are also kicking off at 9:00am, you will need to run from field to field.   (Or wait for the roar of the crowd and try to figure out which side is happy)   It will be a great weekend of soccer.  Good Luck to all teams.

The League Cup game on Sunday will be followed by a practice at Iceland on Monday, and a practice (note new location) at the new field on Courtney Park on Wednesday.  Times and maps can be found at the bottom of the page.

The Panthers will round out their week against the Burlington Tigers on Thursday July 20, 2006 - 8:30 pm at Memorial.  This will be our first official game under the lights, and your last opportunity to watch the Tigers play the Panthers in league play.

When the Tigers leave town, the Panther Parents will jump into action as we prepare to host the Ontario Cup Tournament Round on July 22-23, 2006.....  .
(and I almost forgot, Congratulations Italy!!!!)

2006- Panthers This Week - July 20
"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 2006-08

Ontario Cup Weekend is upon us.   Well Almost!!!!  The Panthers squeezed out a 2-1 victory over the Georgetown Mustangs in league play (July 13, 2006), took Burlington 2-0 in League Cup play (July 16, 2006) and saw a late goal by Burlington tie the league game at 1-1 (July 20, 2006)  Overall a very good week..

The Ontario Cup is coming to Mississauga.  The Panthers play host to four  teams from across Ontario on July 22 / 23, 2006,  While the players have been preparing for the games, the Panther Parents have been quietly putting everything together behind the scenes.  Mother Nature appears to be co-operating.   Here's to a good weekend of soccer.

Please go to the Panthers-Ontario Cup page for a list of activities, schedules, score updates and field maps.

"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 2006-09

A special thank-you to the Panther Parents!!!!!!!!

Your behind the scenes planning and attention to detail provided the players, coaches, and parents with a great Ontario Cup - Mississauga memory.    Thank-you!!!!!!!

And a VERY VERY Special Thank-you to all of our sponsors.  The players and coaches loved the gift backpacks (not to mention the goodies inside)  The sports "person" game balls presented to each team at the end of every match, the coolers full of water bottles at the player and referee benches,  and I'm sure that the freezees were greatly appreciated.  Your sponsorship proved that even in a large city, there is a very special feeling of community.  Thank-you!!!!!!!!

The Games.....

The Panthers came out on top of their first game of the weekend against the London United Freedom 3-0.  The Freedom, one of the top teams in the YDYSL, are a fiesty group who are not to be taken lightly.

The Panthers second game was against the Cambridge Storm.  The storm played a very disciplined game, keeping the score 0-0 at the half.  The second half saw the Panthers go ahead by two.  Final Score 2-0

The Panthers third game (2:00pm Sunday) started about 30 minutes after the thunder showers had passed.  The Panthers went up by two goals before Barrie buried a beautiful free kick late in the second half. (B didn't have a chance)

The Fourth Game of the Tournament pitted Unionville against the Panthers.  The Panthers needed a win or a tie to move on.   Two well placed first half goals sealed the victory, allowing the Panthers to proceed to the next round on August 12, 2006 against the Group 10 winners, the Oshawa Kicks Extreme.  Oshawa will be playing host to the quarter final game.  Time and location to be announced...

Note: League Cup game vs. Georgetown will be rescheduled.

The Panthers have entered another period of "time off" from competitive play.  Our next scheduled league game is August 9th against Erin Mills at Tom Chater.

For those of you on vacation, enjoy your hiatus...

Even though you are on vacation, the coach has recommended the following daily routine to help maintain your "game shape"  Day One - 5 km run,  Day Two - Interval training (60 minutes)  Day Three - Hill Training  (60 minutes) Day Four - 50km bike ride (cross training) Day Five - Rest Day, but try to slip in 1000 keep-ups.  Day Six - repeat, starting at Day One.

For everyone else, we'll just have a couple of practices and maybe a trip to Murphy's   (The training schedule for those on vacation is not meant to indicate any jealously on behalf of the training staff.  It is purely for the benefit of the players!!!!)

2006 Panthers This Week - Aug 13
"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 2006-11

After playing two games this week, the Panthers have been awarded another week off by "the scheduler."  This will give us a little time to rest, heal and prepare for our next game on Saturday August 19th.

In league play on Wednesday August 9th,  the Panthers came out on top in a 3-0 win against the Erin Mills Eagles  This was likely our last visit with the Eagles in 2006.

The Ontario Cup - Quarter Final match saw the Panthers drive to
Oshawa - The City in Motion   to play the Oshawa Kicks Extreme.   The "Extreme", like the city they play in, were certainly in motion. The team has the ability to move the ball from one end of the field to the other very quickly. The Panthers, unable to finish any chances in the first half, entered the break in a 0-0 tie.  Early in the second half, the Panthers finished a nice corner kick.  They added the final goal about ten minutes later on a cross.  The Extreme continued to press for the remainder of the game, but the Panthers held their ground, with a final score of  2-0.

The Quarter Final victory allows the Panthers to continue play in the
Ontario Cup.  The Semi Final Game will be played on Saturday August 26th at St Marcellinus Secondary School (Courtney Park Field) at either 3:00pm or 5:00pm against Scarborough United Hurricane. The Hurricane beat Whitby 4-1 in their Quarter Final Match.   Good Luck Panthers.

In the game of the week, the Panthers travel to Mohawk Park - Field # 6 on Saturday August 19th - 3:00pm to play in a League Cup-Semi Final game against the Georgetown Mustangs.

2006 Panthers This Week - Aug 19
"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 2006-12

Using the rain and fog at Mohawk Park as cover, the Panthers slipped past the ever challenging Georgetown Mustangs 1- 0 in League Cup Semi-Final action this afternoon.  That being said, the rain that we had wasn't even close to the amount of rain that came down in the Brams United / London United Game.  (Brams 3- London 0)

The Panthers will now face the Ladies from Brams United in the League Cup Final - Note: The SRSL has stated that the League Cup final will be rescheduled to accomodate an already rescheduled league game on September 9th.  League Cup Final - Date, Time and Location - to be announced.

The Panthers continue their week with two league games.  The Panthers visit the City of Kitchener on Tuesday August 22nd, at 7:00pm - Budd 1.  This will be our final visit with the Spirit for 2006.   On Thursday August 24, 2006, the Panthers play host to the Dragons from Dixie.  The game will be held at Fallingbrook Park, starting at 8:30pm.

And of course, next weekend brings up new challenges, but there are league games to contend with first.

Practice on Monday - Courtney Park Field - 7:00pm.

........Go Panthers..........

2006 Panthers This Week - Aug 23
"Panthers This Week"  - Ontario Cup Semi-Final edition

The Panthers had a busy league schedule this week.  Our visit to Kitchener resulted in a 3 - 0 Panther win.  The Thursday night home game against Dixie was non-stop until the final whistle.  The 150-200 fans saw a great effort by both teams, with the Panthers coming out on top 1- 0.

The Panthers turn their thoughts to the Ontario Cup Semi-Final game against Scarborough United Hurricane on Saturday August 26, 2006 at the Courtneypark Field  (St. Marcellinus Secondary School)

For the Panther Fans attending the Semi-Final Game - remember there is an admission charge for the Semi-Finals.  $2.00 for adults, $1.00 for youth (10-19), and no charge for kids and seniors.

League action continues August 29th against the Niagara Falls Great Wolves - Fallingbrook 8:30pm.

Practices, yes there are practices, check the events calendar for time and location.

2006 Panthers This Week - Aug 26
"Panthers This Week"  - Ontario Cup Semi-Final -Second edition

There are days when soccer is a lot like golf, it doesn't matter how you got there, it's the score at the end of the day.  Today was one of those days.

The Panthers and the Scarborough United Hurricane met Saturday afternoon in Ontario Cup Semi-Final action.   The game started with the Panthers controlling the first twenty minutes, while the Scarborough Hurricane controlled the second 20.  The half ended 0-0 with neither team having a "good" scoring opportunity.

Scarborough United came out strong in the second half, moving the ball around very nicely.  The Panthers provided the Hurricane with several "Panther Territory"  free kicks in a ten minute span.  The Hurricane buried one at the 50-55 minute mark.    The goal energized the Hurricane who continued their increased pressure.  The Panthers mixed things up, scoring the equalizer at the 70 minute mark.   The play was intense for the remaining ten minutes of regulation time.  Unfortunately, neither team could resolve the issue in overtime, forcing the two keepers to square off against shots from the penalty mark.  The match required ten shots, with the North Mississauga Panthers coming out on top 5-4.   Well played Hurricane, good luck the rest of your season.

League action continues August 29th against the Niagara Falls Great Wolves - Fallingbrook 8:30pm.

Practices, yes there are practices, check the events calendar for time and location.

2006- Panthers This Week - Aug 28
"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 15

The Panthers return to league play against two teams that they have yet to play in the 2006 Outdoor Season.   The Niagara Falls Great Wolves make the trip up the QEW for a game on Tuesday August 29-8:30pm at Fallingbrook.   On Thursday August 31, the Panthers visit our friends to the north in a game against the Brams United Blaze 7:00pm at Avondale.

Practice this week is at the Courtneypark Drive Field on Monday from 7-9pm.   The photographer will be coming to this practice to take your individual and team photos, please bring your red and white uniforms.

Go Panthers!!!!!

2006 Panthers This Week - Sept 1
"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 16

The Panthers had an up and down week in league play.  In the first game of the week, the Panthers were victorious in their visit with the Niagara Falls Great Wolves. The "Great Wolves" have a nice touch, and are  building a strong foundation.  They will continue to be a threat to every team they play.

In the second game of the week, the Panthers were on the losing end of a game with the Brams United Blaze.   The Blaze controlled the first half of the game, entering the break up 1- 0.  The Panthers battled back, but were unable to find the back of the net.   Final Score 2- 0  Congratulations Blaze.

The Panthers have earned the right to play the defending champion Blaze three times in the month of September, on September 10th in the League Cup final, on September 16th in the Ontario Cup final, and on September 19th, in our last league game of the season.   Stay tuned, it should be an exciting finish...........Good Luck Panthers.

The Panthers, Brams United Blaze, Dixie Dragons, and the London United Force are in a tight race to finish in the top three of the SRSL Elite.   Every game between Labour Day and the end of the season will have an impact on the final result.

The Panthers are busy preparing  for their next opponent, the Georgetown Mustangs, on Tuesday September 5, 2006 - 7:00pm at the Meadowvale Field.  The Mustangs always play the Panthers tough.
It should be a great match to watch after a long first day at school....

Practices - of course.... check the calendar.

Go Panthers!!!!!!

2006 Panthers This Week - Sept 6
"Panthers This Week"  - Edition 17

The Panthers opened the week with their final game of the year against the Georgetown Mustangs.  The Mustangs started the scoring on a nicely anticipated ball at the fifteen minute mark.  The Panthers responded by finishing a free kick at the twenty-five minute mark.  The half ended 1-1.  The Panthers controlled the second half, scoring three unanswered goals, final score 4-1.

The Panthers will be heading to Niagara Falls for our next League Game on Saturday September 9th at 1:00pm - Oakes Park.  This is our first visit to Oakes Park, and our final visit with the Niagara Falls Great Wolves.

We have a practice on Thursday at Manor Hill - check the schedule.

Go Panthers!!!!!!

2006- Panthers This Week - Sept 16

Canhas Cup Tournament Results

On Saturday January 20th, the coaching staff joined fifty other teams in the battle for the prestigious Canhas Cup.    This renowned event had participants from Canada, Columbia, Germany, England, Portugal, Spain, Scotland, Italy, and the United States.

Like the Ontario Cup, the Canhas Cup begins with a Tournament Round.  The participants were divided into six divisions, with the winner of each division and the top two wild cards moving to semi final action.    Coach Joe, Dave, and Cheri each won their divisions.  Coach Emmett started strong, but encountered some tough competition, and fell short in his bid to gain a wild card position.  At the end of the tournament round, there was one clear wild card, but three teams were tied for the second spot.  Mike battled through a mini-playoff to grab the last spot in the semi-finals.

Semi final action pitted Coach Joe against Mike, and Cheri against Dave.  Mike defeated Coach Joe 2-nil, while Cheri defeated Dave 2-1, setting up an exciting final match between Mike and Cheri.     In a see-saw battle that saw numerous lead changes, and the possibility of penalty kicks, Mike took the final round 2-1.

When asked the famous question; "Mike, You have just won the Canhas Cup, What are you going to do next?"  He replied "We're going to  Puerto Vallarta"....

Not since the Pittsburgh Steelers in February 2006, has a playoff round wildcard advanced to the final, and won a prestigious cup.  The North Mississauga Panthers want to  congratulate Mike on winning the "2007 Canhas Cup"

Panthers This Week" -Indoor Season-18th Edition - Ontario Indoor Cup Special

A VERY SPECIAL THANK-YOU  for Fallon who substituted for our injured keeper today.  Fallon was outstanding.

The Panthers finished the Ontario Indoor Cup with 3 ties.  Pickering 0-0, Erin Mills 0-0, and Brams United Blaze - 3-3.  The Blaze tied the game with approximately 10 seconds left, to knock the Panthers out of the competition. (With the win, the Panthers would have taken first place in group A.....)

Good Luck to the Brams United Blaze, Erin Mills Eagles, Scarborough United Hurricane and the Dixie Dragons as they battle it out for the 2007 Ontario Indoor Cup on Sunday February 18th.   Semi Finals at 10:00am, the final is at 12:00noon.

Semi Final # 1 - Brams United Blaze vs Scarborough United.
Semi Final # 2 - Dixie Dragons vs Erin Mills Eagles.

The OISL has given the Panthers a three week break.
The next scheduled game is on Saturday March 17th at 12:00 noon on OSA A vs Richmond Hill.

(The Game on Sunday March 11th, 2007 has been rescheduled to April 21st at 8:00pm)

"Panthers This Week"-Indoor Season-20th Edition -

Zzzzzzzz.   While there hasn't been much action on the field, except for practice, the coaching staff have been busy behind the scene.  Our sixteen player indoor team has been registered for the outdoor season.  The uniform logos from our two major sponsors, Bass Paper and Bell, have been selected.  We have completed our outdoor training schedule, which is waiting for club approval, and we are sifting through a list of potential outdoor tournaments.  Last but not least, we registered for the 2007 Ontario Cup.

The lay-off has a positive side in that our injured players are starting to heal, and should be in top shape for the outdoor season.   Speaking of the outdoor season, The OYSL have just announced the
"kick-off" weekendschedule.  See below, or click on "kick-off" weekend to go to the OYSL site.

Several teams return to OISL action on Saturday, the schedule has been updated below.

The next Panthers game is on Saturday March 17th at 12:00 noon on OSA A vs Richmond Hill.

Go Panthers!!!

Sunday, March 18

"Panthers This Week"-Indoor Season--21th Edition -

The Panthers met the Richmond Hill Raiders in OISL action on March 17, 2007.  The Panthers looked a little rusty after a three week lay-off, but scored a nice four pass goal to take the lead late in the first half.  Unfortunately, the power of the "green" was too strong on St. Patrick's Day, the raiders tied the score with about five minutes remaining.  The score ended 1-1...

The Panther will be changing training venues for the next two Tuesday's.  Details to be announced.

There are no changes to the Friday Schedule.

The Panthers meet the league leading Dixie Dragons on Saturday March 24, 2007 at 3:00pm - OSA - C.

GO PANTHERS!!!

Monday, March 26

"Panthers This Week"-Indoor Season--22th Edition -

The Dixie Dragons slipped past the Panthers 2-1 in OISL action this weekend.  The grass is getting greener, and the outdoor field turf is drying out.  It must be time to go outside!!!!!
Outdoor Panther practices begin soon - check the schedule for confirmed dates.   The Panthers have three games remaining in the indoor season.  The Brams United Blaze on March 31st, The Pickering Spirit on April 14, and Richmond Hill Raiders on April 21st.

The Panthers will be training at the Toronto Track and Field Centre on Tuesday March 27th from 6:15 to 8:30pm.  Details have been provided by e-mail.

Sunday, April 1

"Panthers This Week"-Indoor Season--23th Edition -

Both the Panthers and the Blaze played strong games on Saturday afternoon at the OSA.  The Panthers took the lead, finishing a corner kick at the 15 minute mark of the first half.  The Panthers had several chances to take a two goal lead, but were denied by a "hot" keeper.  The second half saw more back and forth play with the Panthers getting most of the scoring chances.  The Blaze were able to "knock one in" during a goal mouth scramble, taking a bite out of the panthers, to tie the game at the 19 minute mark of the second half. (sorry coaches, I just couldn't resist the pun)  The game appeared to be headed for a tie, but at the 22 minute mark a charging Blaze striker was able to deflect a keeper cleared ball and watch as it bounced into the back of the Panther net.

Good game, it's going to be a great outdoor season.

Up next???

Practice:Thomas Street School 6:00pm on Tuesday April 3rd.

and then?

There will be a lot of soccer players participating in the Good Friday 5km Road Race on April 6th at 9:30am.  The Dixie Dragons confirmed their attendance this afternoon.  It should be a lot of fun, remember completing a 5km road race is a major accomplishment.  (I'll bet that very few of your parents have done it. ) Everyone is invited to come out and support their favourite runner.......
Details have been provided by e-mail, and are included on the website.

The Panthers next indoor game is April 14th against Pickering, but before that, the ladies will finally get to stretch their outdoor legs during an exhibition game on April 10th against the North Mississauga Panthers.  - 6:30pm - St. Marcellinus.

"Panthers This Week"-Indoor Season--24th Edition (a.k.a.- "Pass the A535" edition) -(a.k.

The Panthers competed in the Burlington Runners Good Friday Race on April 6, 2007.  On an extremely cold and blustery day, the ladies endoured the elements  and a lot of them set "personal best" times in a 5km race. Excellent Effort ladies.  We may do another one in the fall so that you can compare your times.
Congrats to Alex who finished the race as the first overall female.

The Panthers return to OISL action on Saturday April 14, 2007 - 12:00noon - Field C at the OSA against the Pickering Spirit.  Please wear your reds to this game.

"Panthers This Week"-Indoor Season--25th Edition (2nd last edition) -(a.k.

The Panthers and Pickering Spirit played to 1-1 tie in OISL action on Saturday.   Only one indoor game to go!!!!!  The last Panther indoor game is against Richmond Hill on Saturday April 21, 2007 - 8:00pm on OSA C.  A Richmond Hill tie or win will give them second place in league play.  A Panther win will give them second place (they would tie Richmond Hill with points, but would have a better head to head percentage)  A Panther tie or loss will leave them in fourth place.

A special Congrats to the Dixie Dragons who won the OISL U14 title for 2007...

A list of Panther practices for the next month has been e-mailed to every player.

Parent Meeting - April 20th - 6:30pm - West Credit Secondary.   Note:Practice on April 20th has been moved to 7:00-9:00pm. Don't be surprised if Barry brings a motion for a parent night out........ B - 4...........

The Panthers visited the awesome Richmond Green Sports Complex to play their first ever outdoor regulation game against the Richmond Hill Raiders.  The Panthers scored in the first half when Lil' Steph knocked in a rebound that Big Steph rocketed at the goal.    The Panthers came out strong in the second half, the midfielders and strikers ensured that the ball was kept in the Richmond Hill end for the first 25 minutes.  Richmond Hill kicked it into high gear for the last ten minutes of the game.  "B" and the Panthers' defence kept them off the scoreboard.
Final Score - North Mississauga Panthers 1 - Richmond Hill 0.

A special congrats to both teams from the referees who thought it was an exciting and clean match.  Well done ladies.

"Panthers This Week" - Outdoor Season-- 10th Edition - July 12, 2007

The Panthers played host to the Pickering Spirit tonight at Hershey 2.  The pre-game warm up was done in the rain, but luckily, the main storm kept to the south allowing the sky to clear at game time.   Pickering struck very quickly, nicely finishing a corner kick at the 3 minute mark.  The Panthers played a controlled game, but hit the post on an open net before putting one in at about the 25 minute mark.  The Panthers added two more before the end of the half.  The second half was scoreless.  Final score Panthers 3 - Pickering - 1

The Panthers next game is at Iceland against Dixie on August 9th.  The Ajax Magic Game - cancelled on July 19th, has not been rescheduled yet.

"Panthers This Week" - Outdoor Season-- 11th Edition - July 30, 2007

The Panthers will be working off a little rust in the National Capital Tournament - Ottawa on August 4th to 6th, 2007.  The tournament organizers have divided the U14 group into two divisions.  They have placed the Ottawa / Quebec teams into Division A, and the GTA teams into Division B.  Every game is a cross-over game, with the top four teams moving to the semi-finals.  An interesting concept that allows you the opportunity to play teams that are not on your normal travel schedule.

Panther Schedule

Saturday August 4 - 10:30am vs Russell Raiders
Saturday August 4 - 1:30pm vs Goulbourn Gators
Sunday August 5 - 10:30am vs Dynamo de Quebec
Sunday August 5 - 1:30pm vs Ottawa South United Force

Semi-Finals and Finals take place on Monday August 6th.

GO Panthers!!!!

"Panthers This Week" - Outdoor Season-- 12th Edition - August 11, 2007

The Panthers had a very busy long weekend - August 4-6 in Ottawa.  We had the opportunity to play four teams that we had never played in the past before making it to the playoff round.  In semi-final action, the Panthers slipped past the Aurora Stingers, who we had played in the Ontario Cup - Tournament Round.  The Panthers met the Province of Quebec - Provincial Champions, the Dynamo de Quebec in the final.    The Dynamo de Quebec, likely the best team we have played this year, came out on top to win the 2007 National Capital Invitational Tournament.  Congratulations.

On Thursday August 9, 2007, the Panthers were scheduled to play the Dixie Dragons at Iceland 1.  Unfortunately, the field was double booked, with a GU15 - SRSL-Elite Game starting at 8:30pm  (we were scheduled for 9:00pm)  As such, our game will be rescheduled.

Saturday August 11, 2007 saw a re-match of the 2006 Ontario Cup Final.  The Panthers played the 2005 Ontario Cup Champion, the Brams United Blaze in a GU14 - Ontario Cup - Quarter Final match at Victoria Park in Brampton.

The Blaze came out hard, but so did the Panthers, who controlled the majority of the play.  The score was 0-0 at the half, and 0-0 at the end of regulation.   The first ten minute period of golden goal time also ended 0-0.  The Panthers won the game at the 2 minute mark of the second overtime period, when a nice cross from Nicole landed on the foot of Ali who deposited the ball in the back of the net for a Panther victory.  Congrats to the whole Panther team, you played awesome on an extremely hot day.   Thanks to Brams United for another great game.

A special thank-you to the Panther cheering section.  Your encouragement certainly gave them an edge......

The Panthers will now move to the 2007 Ontario Cup Semi-Final action against the Dixie Dragons on Saturday August 25th - Esther Shiner Stadium - North York.  The Game will be played at either 10:00am or 12:00 noon - Visit the OSA Website - Ontario Cup for further details.    Just a reminder that there will be an admission charge to watch this game.

A special Happy Birthday to Julia - August 11, 2007....

Unfortunately, there is no rest for the weary.   The Panthers play two tough games against OYSL opponents this week.

On Tuesday August 14th the Panthers visit the Oshawa Kicks and on Thursday August 16th, the Panthers play host to the Richmond Hill Raiders.

And, just to keep everyone on their toes, we will practice on Monday and Wednesday as well.

GO PANTHERS!!!!!

"Panthers This Week" - Outdoor Season - 13th Edition - August 25, 2007

The Panthers have had a rough couple of weeks.  Our visit to Oshawa ended in a 3-1 Panther loss, and a broken arm.  Get Well Soon Sarah!!!   Our return, a couple of days later, to the friendly confines of Hershey Two ended in a 1- 0 loss to Richmond Hill.

The Panthers then had a week off to prepare for the Ontario Cup Semi-Final against the Dixie Dragons on August 25.

The Dragons came out hard, finishing a free kick from the 3 yard mark (hmmm) to go ahead 1- 0 just eight minutes into the game.   Unfortunately, the ladies never recovered from that call, final score 3 - 0 Dixie.

Good Luck to the Dixie Dragons as they play host to the Richmond Hill Raiders for the 2007 Ontario Cup.  The winner will represent Ontario at the Nationals in October in Newfoundland.....

Whats next?

The Panthers are still in the thick of things in the OYSL West.  As the coaches like to say, "the season is in their hands".  Win their final four games and the Panthers will win the West division.

Everything starts on Thursday August 30, 2007 when the Panthers play host to the London United Force at Hershey One.  The Force will be playing their final OYSL regular season game and will have a month off before the playoff on September 29th.  The Panthers will be looking for some revenge for the 1-0 loss to the Force in London on July 5th.

Practices? - Of Course - check the Calendar

The Panthers bounced back from the Ontario Cup-Semi Final loss with a 2-1 victory over the London United Force.    On September 4th, the Panthers played a pivitol game against the Brams United Blaze.  The Panthers came out strong, maintaining possession of the play for most of the first half.  Unfortunately, the Blaze were able to finish a goal mouth scramble for a 1-0 lead at the half.    The Blaze came out strong int he second half, controlling the first twenty minutes and depositing the ball into the Panthers net on a nice rush that started deep in their own end.   The Panthers responded with 20 minutes of quality play.  Thanks to the great defensive efforts of the Blaze keeper and full backs, the Panthers were only able to capitalize on one goal.

Congratulations to the Blaze on the 2-1 victory and for winning the OYSL West Division.

The Panthers have two games remaining in the regular season.  Dixie Dragons on Tuesday September 11 and Ajax United Magic on Thursday September 13, 2007.  A victory in either one of these two tough games will give the Panthers second place in the OYSL West Division.

Practices are on the calendar........

Congratulations to the Richmond Hill Raiders on their penalty kick victory over the Dixie Dragons.  Excellent Effort from both teams.

Final Score 0 - 0  Richmond Hill wins 3-2.
