Florence Youth Softball Association (FYSA) has been chosen by Dixie Softball Inc. (DSI) to host the 2011 South Carolina State Tournament here in Florence SC for the Ponytails, Belles and Debs. The event will begin July 8th, 2011 with tournament games starting on July 9th, 2011. The tournaments will be played at the Freedom Florence Complex on the Lower Fields and is expected to draw between 3 and 6 thousand visitors to the City, consisting of the participants, their family members and friends, and other interested parties.
As an organization, we are thrilled about this opportunity, not only for us but for the City of Florence and the community as a whole. It will take countless hours from our Board members and other volunteers to make this event a success. We look forward to partnering with the City of Florence and the Chamber of Commerce with tournament logistics and promotion of the event.
Florence Youth Softball Association (FYSA) is a growing organization and encourages any and all girls that are interested in softball to come join us for our Spring and Fall Seasons. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Don’t miss out on all the fun, come join us!
Florence Youth Softball Association (FYSA) was established in the late 1960’s and has fielded teams every year since. We have been blessed with great local leadership and community support over the years. Florence Youth Softball Association (FYSA) teams are regular contenders for our District championships and State Championships.
Dixie Softball Inc. was established in 1976 in Minor, Alabama by 10 local men interested in creating a local girls softball league. Dixie Softball, Inc. (DSI), is primarily a youth softball program for girls eighteen (18) years of age and younger, that is played on a scaled-down diamond to meet the physical development of the growing child. Dixie Softball has 6 age divisions; 1) Sweeties, (4-6), 2) Darlings (7-8), 3) Angles (9-10), 4) Ponytails (11-12), 5) Belles (13-15) 6) Debs (16-18). The main purpose of the program is to provide a recreation outlet for as many as possible with emphasis on local league play rather than weekly tournament play. Dixie Softball strives to be an inclusive organization that will be enjoyed by all participants regardless of age or skill level. It is the policy of Dixie Softball to promote the development of strong character, a right attitude and a sense of responsibility and citizenship in youngsters, using the game of softball as a vehicle. It is the purpose of Dixie Softball to achieve this goal through fair play, good sportsmanship and congenial fellowship, with adult leaders providing the example.
Over the years, Dixie has seen phenomenal growth. Currently, Dixie Softball leagues are franchised in 11 states across the Southeastern US (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia). Each Dixie Softball league plays a regular season schedule, picks an all-star team for each age division and competes in their District tournament. District tournament winners compete in their State Tournament. State Tournament winners go on to compete in the Dixie Softball World Series.
