Reign '93 Purple is a premier girls soccer team, based in the Federal Way United Soccer Club. Reign '93 Purple is the 2008 US Club Soccer National Cup Champion and the holder of the Doug Hamilton Memorial Cup for the U14 Super Group. The Reign strive for excellence through hard work, intelligent team-based soccer, and sportsmanship. Reign '93 Purple are coached and trained by James Cecil.

Reign '93 Purple took the US National Cup Northwest Regionals Semi-Finals all the way to penalty kicks but came up just a few kicks short, as Crossfire outshot the Reign 4-3. This was an electric youth soccer match, folks. Reign was under assault early by a Crossfire team that moved the ball confidently and made frequent forays into the Reign defensive third. A 5-minute span late in the first half saw Crossfire salt away 2 goals and go searching for a third, perhaps killer score.

Breanna brilliantly parried away a penalty kick in the 2nd half and that seemed to spark belief in the girl. Reign began mounting their own attacks and made an exciting finish, scoring 2 goals in the last 4 minutes of the match, with the last just seconds before the final whistle. Michelle opened the scoring with a beautiful far post shot from the right side. With time running out, Cash and Michelle combined to work the ball into the Crossfire box. Michelle lofted a rainbow cross into the heart of area with purple shirts raining into the box. Ashley was the one who met the ball, hitting the header hard and on target as the sideline erupted in euphoria.

In the overtime periods, both teams got chances but couldn't find the combination to unlock the goal for the winner. When the match went to kicks, Reign just came up short. 

This was an excellent match, with a comeback of great heart and intensity. The girls gave it their all to defend their US National Cup Championship of 2008. They may have missed that goal, but they played like the champs they are.

The Reign girls added another piece of silverware to the trophy case with a 2-1 victory over Westsound FC this afternoon at Starfire. Congrats to Michelle for her first goal with Reign Purple and all the girls for their hard work to win a tough tournament. Next up is the US National Cup Regionals July 4th weekend in Burlington.
