Federal Way National Little League: 2009 ALL STAR NEWS

The bats came alive in a 13-0 shut out against FME!  FWN racked up 13 runs off 11 hits in 3 innings, in a shortened game due to the mercy rule.  Offensive highlights include a grand slam home run and a single by Markus, a solo home run by Scotty, and singles by Max, Taylor, Kepa, Garrett, Jon and Billy.  Taylor threw nearly a complete game, no hit shut out. Lawyer came in and threw 1 pitch to strike out the batter and get the final out of the game.  Contributions to today's win were made by all including defensive plays made by Kepa, Jon, Markus, Zach and Garrett.  Dax and Max split time behind the plate (2 and 2).

Next game is Tuesday, 7/14, 6PM against Auburn.

The FWNLL Majors Baseball All Star team came out the winner of a 3-1 game against BLS.  There were only 5 hits between the two teams - 3 for FWN and 2 for BLS.  FWN's hits came from Lawyer (single), Markus (single) and Scotty (double).  The FWN batters were patient at the plate earning 4 walks and 2 hit batters - the combination of the 3 hits and walks produced 3 runs.  Markus pitched 5 and 2/3 innings striking out 15 batters.  Taylor came to close to get the final out.

Congratulations to the combined Federal Way National and Federal Way American Juniors Baseball All Star team for winning the District 10 Championship in a 14-2 win over Bonney Lake Sumner/Auburn All Stars!  The team now advances to the State Tournament in Yakima starting July 25.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Federal Way National/South Hill 10-11 Fastpitch All Stars, who last night beat Soundview/Fife Milton to TAKE HOME THE TROPHY as District 10 Champions!   The team includes two players from Federal Way National:  Aleiah Adams and Danielle Ward.

Next, they move on to the State Tournament beginning July 18th in Kirkland!

The FWNLL 9/10 Fastpitch All Star team was knocked out of the tournament by South Hill.  The girls played hard in a back and forth game, but ulimately South Hill hit the ball through a drawn in infield for the winning run in the bottom of the 6th.  The girls took 4th place for FWNLL's highest placing ever in any Little League Softball tournament.

The coaches expressed how very proud they are of the girls, they fought hard and proved that FWNLL is THE place to play Fastpitch Softball!

FWNLL wins against Soundview, Score 11-5.  All of the All Stars were well prepared, mentally tough, and played with purpose.  Parents should be very proud of their kids performance in Sunday’s win over Soundview.  We are preparing for Auburn with humility, and confidence in our abilities to play baseball.  We have a difficult match up ahead.  As a coaching staff we believe in our kids ability, and are confident that they will play well Tuesday (6/16), 6PM at our very own FWNLL Complex!

For the 2nd year in a row FWNLL has a team respresenting in the District 10 9/10 Girls Fastpich All Star Tournament.  Below is brief update on how they are doing so far:

Game 1, Saturday, June 13th:

The FWNLL team lost to an excellent Chinook team 12-2.

Game 2, Sunday, June 14th:

The FWNLL team got off to a hot start with some excellent baserunning and got an early lead that they never let go of.  Gennie Summers pitched 6 complete innings with rock solid defense behind her shutting the door on Soundview 8-4.

Next game is 6/15 at 6pm vs Fife Milton Edgewood.  Please come watch and support this team!  Games are being played at our very own FWNLL Complex!

In the case where there are multiple names listed in a division, the determining factor will be the Majors Tournament.  The 1st place manager will have 1st choice of the divisions he has been approved for, 2nd place will have 2nd choice etc etc.

**Since there is only 1 Juniors division team in FWNLL they will combine with Federal Way American Little League (FWALL), who only has 1 team as well.  Between FWNLL and FWALL the manager of the team with the best record in head to head games will have 1st option to manage the Juniors division All Star team.
