Federal Way National Little League: 2008 ALL STAR NEWS

The “slate” of Allstar Managers has been approved by the FWNLL Board of Directors. See the list below. For age groups that have more than one manager listed, the results of the end of season tournament (if no tournament then regular season standings) will determine which manager gets first pick for choice of Allstar team.

Congratulations to FWNLL's first ever 9/10 Fastpitch All Star team for their win over Auburn/Steel Lake 21-6!!  Their next game is Sunday, June 15th, 9:00AM @ South King County Fields.

The 9/10 Baseball All Stars played a close game against Auburn losing 2-0.  Both teams played well!  Their next game is Sunday, June 15th, 3:00PM @ South King County Fields.

The second game for the 9/10 Fastpitch All Star team was a tough one against a very good Chinook team ending in their first loss in the tournament.  Their next game is Monday, June 16th, 6:00PM at the South King County ball fields.

The second game for the 9/10 Baseball All Star team was an extremely exiciting one to watch.  FWNLL played an outstanding game going into the 6th inning with a 3-0 lead, but Bonney-Lake Sumner played hard in that inning putting 3 runs on the board to push the game to extra innings. After 10 innings of play BLS pulled out the win eliminating FWNLL from the tournament.  Although both games played by the FWNLL 9/10 Baseball All Star team ended in losses they were well played, very close games against tough competition.  This team should be proud of their performance!!

For their 3rd game in the tournament, the FWNLL 9/10 Fastpitch All Star team played a great game against FME maintaining a lead for much of the game, but in the end FME took over the lead and got the win eliminating FWNLL from the tournament.  Congratulations to Manager Gary Haven, Coaches Tom Magruder and Jeff Newcombe and their team for a great performance in FWNLL's first ever Fastpitch All Star team!

Next up for All Stars will be the 11YO Baseball team.  Their first game is Saturday, June 21, 9:00AM (be there at 8:30AM to catch opening ceremonies) at SKC against Fife-Milton-Edgewood.

In Game 1 the FWNLL 11YO All Star team came out with an aggressive offense scoring 12 runs on 13 hits in just 3 1/2 innings of play.  The defense held FME scoreless behind combined pitching from Donavan, Taylor and Lawyer.  Final score 12-0.  Next game is tomorrow (June 22), 9:00AM at SKC against a very tough Kent team!

Game 2 for the 11YO All Star team got off to a bit of a rocky start in the first inning giving up 3 unearned runs to the Kent All Stars, but they quickly settled down and played tough defense behind pitching from Markus.  FWNLL's offense got to work right away putting 3 runs on the board to tie the game.  In the 4th inning Kent put another run on to take the lead, but FWNLL answered back with another run making it a tie game going into the 6th inning.  Garrett came in to close in the 5th inning and Kent would not score again.  In the bottom of the 6th inning with two outs and two runners on Markus came to the plate and hit a pop fly on the left field line behind 3rd base that dropped between two Kent players and Christian came in to score the winning run (see photo below)!!!  Next game is Wednesday, June 25th, 6PM at SKC against Auburn.

The FWNLL 11YO All Stars remain undefeated in the tournament with a 17-5 win over Auburn.  The FWNLL offense was on a roll highlighted by a grand slam home run by Markus in the 5th inning.  The defense held the heavy hitting Auburn team to only 5 runs behind stellar pitching from Taylor for 4 innings.  Lawyer came in to close and worked his magic keeping Auburn from scoring any additional runs.  Next game is Saturday, June 28th, 9:00AM at SKC for the District Championship.

FWNLL Juniors All Star team lost their first game to Kent.  Next game is Sunday, June 29th, 5:00PM at Brannon Park in Auburn.

The FWNLL 11YO All Stars won the District 10 Championship title this morning in a 5-0 shut out against the Kent All Stars.  Markus pitched a complete game, 1-hit, shut-out, including 13 strike outs.  FWNLL scored 3 runs in the first inning and put two more on in the fifth inning.  This is FWNLL's first ever 11YO District Champsionship and first time that title has gone to another league besides Auburn or Kent.  FWNLL 11YO All Stars now advance to the State Tournament beginning July 19th.  Their first game will be on Sunday, July 20th, 3:00PM at Sunset Park in Auburn.

The Juniors lost their second game to a tough Bonney Lake-Sumner team, which eliminated them from the tournament.

Next up are the 12YO All Stars.  Their first game is against Auburn, Saturday, July 5th, 3:00PM at Sunset Park in Auburn.  Come support this team!!

The Federal Way National Little League (FWNLL) 12YO All Star team was eliminated from the District tournament last night, but not without a fight.  Their first game on Saturday was a tough 10-0 loss against a very strong Auburn team.  Last night the FWNLL bats were hot against the Chinook All Stars starting off the game with a single by Casey Knapp, and later highlighted by a 3-run home run by Derek (DJ) Klaas which would tie the game.  The go ahead run scored off a hit by Spencer Austin, but FWNLL could not hang on to the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning and came up short with the final score 8-7 Chinook.  Outstanding pitching performance by George Foley kept FWNLL in the game all the way into the 6th inning when he had to be pulled for reaching maximum pitch count.
