| FWNLL 2012 10-11 BASEBALL ALL STARS - DISTRICT 10 CHAMPIONS |
On Saturday, June 30, the FWNLL 10-11U All Star Team, managed by Tom Wallat with coaches Mike Niksich and Chuck Miller captured the District 10 tournament by defeating the Auburn All Stars 13-4. FW started the tournament by defeating Auburn 7-1. Auburn then reeled off 5 straight wins to gain the rematch. The final game started with strong pitching from FW’s Tommy Davis and Auburn’s Nathan Weeldreyer, who worked out of numerous bases loaded jams. Auburn led 3-2 before FW exploded for 10 runs in the 4th inning to clinch the victory. Mark Wright led the balanced 12 hit FW attack going 3-4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI. Tate Wallat added two hits, 2 walks, and 2 RBI. For Auburn, Nick Lancaster doubled and Cade Stober, Caden Morgan, Nate Weeldreyer, Justin Brown, and Toren Herrick added singles.
The game capped an undefeated tournament for FWNLL. After beating Auburn in the first game, FW defeated rival Kent 10-7 and Sound View 14-5 to reach the final. FW averaged 11 runs per game and batted 0.379 as a team. Their potent offense was highlighted by home runs from Davis, Wright, and Gavin Knapp (his career first). Travis Miller led the team in hits and RBI. Tyler Tribble, Kyle Russell, Malachi Afework, and Brandon Niksich added timely hits to start or extend FW rallies. The pitching was also stellar as the pitching staff compiled a 3.25 ERA. Davis collected two wins with Blake Beck and Knapp collecting one each. Beck and Knapp were stellar in relief. Wright, the closer, collected a save in his only opportunity. Key defensive plays were made by Brandham Ponce and Ben Ray.

| FWNLL 2012 9-10 BASEBALL ALL STARS - DISTRICT 10 CHAMPIONS |
Congratulations to the 2012 9-10 Baseball All Star team for winning the District 10 Championship game on Monday, June 25th against Kent, final score 9-3. Two games into the district tournament the team dropped into the losers bracket with a loss to Auburn. However, the team never gave up and proceeded to win the next six games in a row, including having to the beat the previously undefeated, tough Kent All Stars twice to clinch the championship at GSA Park. The final out of the game came from Colin Heffernan who fielded a hard hit ball out to center field and then threw it in on a rope to Spencer Sugg at catcher to lay down the tag on the runner trying to reach home plate. This is the second year in row the FWNLL 9-10 All Stars have won the championship and advanced to the state tournament
The State Tournament begins on July 14th and will be hosted by our very own District 10 at GSA Park. Click here for more information about the Washington State Tournament
