A Brief History of Fountain Valley Little League
Little League was first chartered in Fountain Valley in 1963. In the early 70s there were so many kids that FVLL was split into two leagues, FV North and FV South. In 1977 there were approximately 1200 kids in the two leagues and there was yet no tee-ball division. The two leagues were forced out of their respective home fields in 1985 and 1986. Both were given two fields to use at Mile Square Park. The two leagues were merged back into one league in 1992.
Of all the kids over all the years, only one has made it to the Major League and played there for several years. We now have three graduates playing Division 1 college ball at Pepperdine, South Carolina, and Cal State Fullerton.
There is award given each year at FVHS in honor of one of our graduates. It is given for spirit, honor, sportsmanship, and courage. This award is the Brice Dickerson Award and is considered a very high honor, especially by those who remember Brice.
Over the years, there have been several people who played here as youth that have stayed in the area and come back with their kids to coach them. This is what the Little League experience should be about, fun memories that you later end up wanting to share with your own children.
