Gulf Shores Alabama USSSA World Series Update Page!!

******************USSSA GULF SHORES ALABAMA WORLD SERIES EVENT*********************

We feel comfortable enough in giving information regarding dates for each Team participating in The USSSA World Series Event this Summer!  Often times, we act too quickly and then Dates change! The Dates are Set!    So, lots of information below.

We will be including in the Tournament fee.... Coaches fees &  lodging.  We will have Fund Raising Events as well to help cover these costs.  You can email Furybaseball417@yahoo.com
for any and all information regarding Fund Raising. She has ideas for individual fundraising and Team Fundraisers that have been helpful to us in the past, not to mention they are Team Builders! When the kids work for this opportunity, they tend to not only take pride in what they are doing together, but they appreciate each other immensely.

We have always ordered "Trading Pins" especially for the younger Teams...they usually cost $2.50 each and the Player gets between 10 and 20 pins to exchange with the other Teams participating in the Event.  I will not order those until end of March or first part of April.
Tournament fee per player: $150.00   This includes Tournament fee, Coaches Fee and Coaches Lodging. Coaches are responsible for their own food and entertainment while traveling.
This fee is due by May 1st 2015.   (This does not include your lodging or food).

As I have mentioned previously in emails, in the past we have offered to block out rooms at a certain hotel for Fury Teams.  This only works if the Team or even groups from all the teams stay together.  The pros are the Kids are together and we often get a group rate.  However, many of you have expressed that you would like to make your own arrangements incorporating this Event into your Summer Vacation.  Either way? We need to know.

It would be awesome if we could get a Team Mom or Dad  for each Team to help out with organizing their Team!!!  Anyone wanting to help?  please let me know.
We would need one Parent from:

11U Cyclones (Select) will be attending the Elite Week.
12U Lightning Elite
13U Tornados Select
13U Tornados Elite
14U Lightning Select
14U Lightning Elite

This is really going to be huge!  We have never taken so many Teams to one Event! Typically we take 2 or 3 Teams.

*****I am speaking with a few Hotels in the area this afternoon to get those group rates and the requirements for the rates****  I will email you all with that info as I get it!!!
You will need to email me: Gina (furybaseball417@yahoo.com) with your plans!!!!!

I will have a folder set up for each Team and after I hear from each and every one of you.....we can make the determination on whether to block out hotel rooms....please let me know quickly! the accommodations will begin to lessen as the weeks go by.  The links below will give you an idea as to what Hotels are available and the links to them.

The Elite Teams Dates are July 13th - July 18th
7/13/2015 - 7/18/2015
2015 USSSA Global Sports Baseball World Series 5

The Select Teams Dates are July 6th - July 11th
7/06/2015 - 7/11/2015
2015 USSSA Global Sports Baseball World Series 4

Here is an overview about the USSSA World Series tournament and accommodations.

Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama

As I read the tournament information now, the games will be played at both the Gulf Shores complex as well at the Orange Beach sports complex.  Don't worry - they are only 7 miles apart!

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are a stretch of the Gulf Coast in Alabama (9 hours from us) that comprise of 20 miles of shoreline.  Therefore either location would be well within the range of games and extracurricular activities.  The reason I mention this is that Orange Beach can be more cost effective so don't be concerned by the location...

We have been to the area a few times and can provide the following information to those that are new to the Alabama coast.

Accommodations - traditional hotel arrangements can be made (though limited in the area) and Condominium/House rentals can also be made.  If you are looking for something on the beach, a condo is your best bet.  Rates range, so do a search for your space/comfort needs at any of the following:

For hotels look at:

All can give a good list of hotels available.  The difference between the hotels and condos is the beach availability and the accommodations.  Condos have a full kitchen and typically multi bedroom layouts.  Hotels have half kitchens and limited suite layouts.  So depending on your need and budget, I hope the info helps.

Beach availability is not guaranteed for either hotel or condo, so be sure if that is important to you, that you pay attention to the details of the property.

Driving to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach...

IH-10 East in Alabama just past Mobile Bay - turn on to exit 44(Highway 59) south - then be sure to take the Foley Beach express toll road turn off - it will save you about 45 minutes of stop and go traffic and only cost you a couple of dollars.

Things to do an see...

Plenty of things to do on the time off.  Primarily - BEACH!  Enjoy.

Other items include the Gulf Shores Zoo, Alligator Alley, Lulu's Obstacle course, Fishing, Dolphin Watching, Shopping at the Outlet, Gulf State Park, Waterville USA, Fort Morgan (or the trip to Dauphin and Fort Gaines) and much more...

One Notable item - the US Navy Blue Angles train out of Naval Air Station Pensacola.  This time of year they run their drills 2X week in the morning hours.  This is an incredible opportunity to see them perform.  Very worth checking into for a group outing.

Restaurants are as varied as you would want - with plenty of fresh Gulf seafood.  (and if you have a full kitchen, check out the fresh seafood markets for daily catches to cook up as you desire...Blalock, S&S, Fresh Market and Shrimp Shack are all good choices of markets)

Thanks to Aaron Hoge for all your input!!!

Thank so much for your time!!!  We are so looking forward to the warmth of the sun and the beautiful beaches and of course playing Ball!    Go Fury!!!

Fury Thunder take 1st place in Select Shootout

In their 2nd tournament of the season our 14U Thunder team took 1st place after a rough start on Saturday. Playing with only 9 kids for the weekend and no rest the boys pulled together and had a great Sunday with only 1 error in both games. What a great job. We are very proud of you. This is what you call a TEAM effort!

Clint and Gina,

By the way, I cannot even begin to tell you the night and day difference that exists between the Fury and the ________. In only two practices, I have seen more enthusiasm and motivation from Jake than in 6 weeks with the _________. Practices are structured and with purpose, and feedback is positive, firm, and immediate. This is all awesome….we are thrilled to be on board!

Dennis M

Coach Clint,
I wanted to pass something along to you about Steven. Ever since last Fall when you told the team that you wanted to see report cards, that put Steven on high alert. He has really buckled down this year and is producing the guest grades he had even had. This last report card last week he made straight A's for the first time. Thank you for the extra push on school!

Best regards,
Steve Fortune

Just to let you know that I am happy with where my boys are and I feel like they have grown in their skills and thank you very much for the job you are doing.

Shannon M

Happy holidays to you as well and thanks for all your support with Hogan.  He is a sensitive kid but he loves playing for you and Don.  With having 4 kids I see a lot of different coaching styles and I honestly feel you are one of best I have seen.  You have high expectations but are always constructive and manage all the kids in accordance with their different temperaments.

Thanks again for everything - see you thursday
Carl R

Thanks for all you do. Drake and Kendall both love this team and they have got more out of being with you as a coach than they ever have before. Drake is so sad and tearful everyday because he is out hurt, but he loves this team and you as his coach.

Debra Gregory

I just wanted to let you know that both Chris and Sam made the soph. team at Kingwood High! Thanks for all you did for them with Fury. I know it was a big part of them making the team.

Clint --

Thanks. Really thought you had arranged the clinics well, and helped kids of various skills and ages. Liked the system of your gathering them for instruction after they had done a little of the skill being worked on, and then recycling them. That gave you and yours more knowledge first on where they were, and then gave you personally the chance to see what they had picked up from your instruction and the specific items they needed individually to work on. Was really good.

George Bond

Clint and Gina-
Thank you for such a top-rate clinic on Saturday!  Conor had a great time and was able to tell his dad (currently out of country) several new things he had learned.  And Clint thank you especially for talking with Conor about his frustration at playing 1st base when the "crazy throws" come in.  He is excited to have a strategy for getting those bouncers and wild throws.
We look forward to the summer clinics/camps.

Thanks again!
