Meet our Coaches

COACH RICH BRUNSON - President and Head Coach

Richard L. Brunson III (Rich) is native of Jamaica Queens NY and celebrated player of Hillcrest High School. He earned a full 4-year Scholarship to play for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (79 -83), while studying economics. During his senior year, the team went to the NCAA tournament.  However, they lost in the second round to his hometown team St.  Johns.  Rich missed most of his junior season due to a medical condition that required surgery. He returned to his Rutgers team for his senior year. After Rutgers Rich, has dedicated himself to the sport he loves at numerous levels.  He continues to coach, teach and train future players.   He currently works for the New Brunswick Middle School, and coaches the basketball team. Rich is also the owner of an extermination business, S.T.O.M.P, Termite and Pest Control, LLC. He has a ten-year-old son.  Rich currently lives in Eatontown NJ with his fiancée Katrina who is also a certified coach.

COACH KATRINA THORNTON - Vice President and Coach

 Katrina serves as the physical awareness and stretching coach for FBB.

  • NCAA Certified for sanctioned events
  • Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y, for Youth Coaching Certification
  • Former Professional cheerleader in the NBA
  • Currently renewing her CPR certification
  • Accepted to the NJ Nets Cheer/Dance team in their inaugural year and continued for three years
  • She served as a camp counselor for more than eight years at the Brookdale College Youth Summer Camp, Raise a Cheer Enterprises, and various other organizations
  • She was a dance and gymnastics instructor at “Head over Heels” Gymnastics School
  • Former certified gymnastics coach, which included the subfield of rhythmical gymnastics
  • Katrina was a prima member of her college’s dance troupe’s
  • Former certified dance teacher and coach, for both dance and cheerleading
  • Former award winning Pop Warner cheerleading and dance coach
  • She currently serves as a freelance choreographer for dance teams, gymnast and cheer teams

Katrina is a native of the Jersey Shore with her hometown being Tinton Falls, NJ. She attended, Monmouth Regional High School, where she received her letter s all four years in dual seasons. She participated as a college cheerleader and a professional cheerleader. She attended Brookdale College majoring in mass communications and Dance. She returned to Brookdale college to major a second time in Criminal Justice with a minor in Philosophy. She continued her education at Monmouth University with a major in Criminal Justice and a Pre-Law curriculum.

Academically, Katrina was a member of her colleges Deans List and The National Dean’s List –(Membership awarded to ½ of 1% of all college students). She graduated with a GPA of 4.0 and is a member and received a gold tassel as a Member, Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society which (Membership requires GPA 3.7 or better) and hands on community service

She currently lives in Eatontown, NJ with her fiancé Rich Brunson, where they also own/operate an exterminating business.

MARK E TYREE- Director of Player Development

Mark E. Tyree is a long time Physical Education/Health professional and Coach at Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset, NJ. He is a high school All American, two-time college All American, 2000 All Century, and recent Lacrosse Hall of Fame honoree. For more than a decade, Coach Tyree's involvement in athletics has centered on basketball, lacrosse, and soccer at the AAU, high school, middle school, college camp, and private lesson levels. Coach Tyree is dedicated to fostering physical fitness, athletic technical skills, knowledge, a healthy competitive spirit, and positive coach/athlete relationships. He excels in the ability to mentor athletes to realize their greatest performance potential.

 

TERRANCE BAILEY – Assistant Director of Player Development

Terrance Bailey (born July 3, 1965) is a former American basketball player who led NCAA Division I in scoring as a junior in 1985–86. A native of Newark, New Jersey, Bailey played at Wagner College for four years and established himself as one of the Northeast Conference's all-time greatest players.

In his NCAA-leading junior season, he averaged 29.4 points per game, was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Year, an honorable mention All-American and was in his second of an unmatched three consecutive first team all-conference seasons. The Atlanta Hawks selected him in the second round (42nd overall) in the 1987 NBA Draft.
