Fulton Youth Soccer: Welcome

  2014 Spring/Fall Season

Spring season games run April 26 to June14

Fall season games run September 6 to October 18

Schedules are posted here and on Facebook

Lil Kickers is Closed for the Fall 2014 season  We have reached our maximum    number of players for this session.

We are now taking Fall registrations, forms can be gotten on the forms page in the 2014 Season section and turned in at the field or sent into the PO Box on the form.  Forms received September 6 or later will be charged a $10 late fee.  Last day for registration is Saturday Sept. 13.

Players that are currently on teams and want to sign up for Fall soccer only have to fill out the front page of the form.  Include your current age group and team.  Cost is $55 for the Fall season

Lil Kickers will start again Sept. 2, 5:15-6:00 every Tuesday thru Oct 14.  Lil Kickers will take wait list players first then open registration.  Use the House Player Registration form and check Lil Kickers. We will cap the group at 30 players.  IF we get another coach we will open this group up to more players, if you can step up for this group please contact Amy Jo Battles, 561-0137.  Registration is on a first come basis, $25 per season for 3-4 year olds, though 4 year olds are encouraged to play U6.  Players must be at least 3 and potty trained, no exceptions. A parent/guardian needs to stay on site during the session.

We need to fill 4 seats on the board this fall.  Our board meets once a month, each member has a specific job in the organization and will serve a term of 3 years.  Board members do not need an abundance of soccer knowledge, they need to want to make our organization better and work with a group.  Candidate forms are in the snack bar and any board member can give you more information about what each job entails.  Joining the board will enhance your life, not take it over.

Players 4-12 years old will be in age divisions, U6, U8, U10 & U12.  All teams will have a 1 hr practice during the week and 1 hr game on Saturday mornings at Chase Rd.

Typically practice nights are:

U6 - Monday

U8 -Tuesday

U10 & U12 - Wednesday

Registration forms are available in the Forms & Schedules folder located on the left hand side of the Welcome Message.  Please check out and like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/fultonyouthsoccerleague. Both sites will be kept up to date.  If you still have questions about registration please call Bill Donnelly (Treasurer) at 341-4493or Chris Hansen (President) at plumber283@yahoo.com.

The teams play at the Don Butler Soccer Park on Chase Road. Games will begin on April 26, 2014. Practices will start the week of the first scheduled games.

All players need shin guards, size 4 ball, cleats/sneakers, black shorts(preferred), water for games and practices.  Bug spray is also very helpful in Spring.

Message from the President

I want to thank the board for giving me the opportunity to lead Fulton Youth Soccer again this year. Though my husband may not agree, this is really a great job and among the best uses of my free time. This will also be my last year with FYS since my youngest child has aged out of the program and my 3 year term will be finished. But we have a lot to look forward to this year and we are ready to hit the ground running with some great changes and enhancements.

We are starting a new division called Lil Kickers. It’s for 3-4 year olds to get their feet wet before joining the U6 division and will be a non-competitive league stressing ball handling and basic rules of the game. Our U6 division will now be for players already 4 or turning 4 years old during their first season of soccer. Lil Kickers will be Tuesdays 5 - 5:45pm and $25/season.

We are also changing our travel teams from the traditional set up of traveling to different cities in the area to playing all their games at the Jones Rd outdoor facility in Baldwinsville. This change will be less expensive, less paperwork and less travel for families. The main advantage will be our players will face teams from the area that they will play in their junior high and high school careers. Teams can sign up through FYS and practice at the Chase Rd fields.

More information on both of these programs will be available on our Facebook page (Fulton Youth Soccer League), on our website, and at the Registration nights in February and March. In the last year we have found Facebook to be very helpful in getting out information in a timely manner and helping folks connect within our organization. As long as we keep it for those purposes we will continue to be successful.

I have really enjoyed working with the families of Fulton Youth Soccer and though we have not all agreed all the time, we do agree that this is a great program for our kids and we get out what we put in. So thank you all for putting your best into this program and may we continue to grow and prosper in the coming years.

See you on the field,

Chris Hansen

Founded in 1978, the Fulton Youth Soccer League strives to teach children between the ages of 5 and 14, soccer fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship. The FYSL offers both an In-House League and a Travel League. Fulton Youth Soccer League provides a healthy and wholesome environment for families to gather. It's a place where parents can join their children and assist them in learning to play soccer with no measured standards of achievement. The child can experience the thrill of competition, learn responsibility to the coach and to teammates, and enjoy playing soccer. Our In-House League offers a non-competitive atmosphere for the 5yr - 12yr old players. The In-House League's primary objectives are to teach basic soccer fundamentals, good sportsmanship, discipline, and fun. Here the emphasis is not on winning, but rather the love of the game. Each player, no matter the age or ability level, will have equal playing time and will be encouraged to do his or her best. For those with a more competitive spirit, FYSL also offers a travel league for the 10yr - 19yr old players. The Travel League plays against other league teams within the Central New York State area. Here, the level of play emphasizes team and individual performance. This is introduced in preparation for the more intensive and mature competition encountered at the middle and high school levels.

Our 2015 Board of Directors
