Welcome to the Southwest Little League (SWLL), District 5 Website!
All Southwest Little League Families,
I hope every family had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to the New Year. I wanted to thank you for a fantastic year. Your participation in the Southwest Little League baseball and softball programs made a huge difference. Through your commitments we were able to field over 37 teams for the 2009 season. It’s through your support and participation the league remains strong going into 2010.
I want to thank each Mother, Father, Son and Daughter for helping with all the activities during the season. From the car pools to the concessions, in the stands, on and off the field, we would not be able to do this without you and the support of your family in the stands cheering on your sons and daughters. Our children learn and emulate the things they see. From good sportsmanship to the values of volunteering, you’re not only helping the community but teaching your son and daughters values they will later use in their lives.
As our 2010 season is about to begin I would like to encourage each of you to come out and participate in any way you can. There’s plenty of opportunity on or off the field. Much of this is not about knowledge, skill or ability but teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership. If you have these skills we welcome and encourage your participation. Whether it's time for training, practice or games, baseball offers lots of opportunities for learning. Encouraging our children to be physically fit, thinking on their feet or leading and participating in a team environment, these skills will serve them well as they grow up.
We have begun the communication process for our 2010 season. Flyers have been sent home from many schools and will continue through the next few weeks. The St. Petersburg Times is posting information on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the local sports sections and our web site is up and running for registration.
Come out, playing baseball on the beach is fun!

SWLL offers:T-ball for girls & boys ages 4-7
machine pitch
minor, major & junior baseball & softball
senior baseball
SWLL will be offering 5 divisions for Girls Softball this Spring season. There will be T-Ball, Machine Pitch, Minors, Majors & Juniors. If you have a daughter or relative interested in playing SOFTBALL, please have them contact us so we can give them information about our new softball program.
Registration FEES to play at southwest little league
Boys & girls T-Ball = $50.00
Boys baseball & Girls softball - $100.00
Walk up registrations will be held at Egan field:
Wednesday 1/6/10 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Saturday 1/9/10 10:00am to Noon
Thursday 1/14/10 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Player evaluation will begin later this month at Egan field. There will be 2 Try-out dates for boys & girls ages 8 to 12 on Thursday 1/21/10 at 6:00pm and Saturday 1/23/10 at 10:00AM at Egan Field. Your child must attend one of the two try-outs. Check the web site for details.
Opening Day will be on Saturday February, 27th 2010 at Hurley field at 10 a.m. in Pass-A-Grille. This is a fun event with food, games & activities. We will also be handing out uniforms and holding coach and training clinics.
The Spring interlock games will begin on March 6th, 2010.
