Josh Kromer will be coaching the varsity team with Jake Rishel as Head Coach for the junior varsity. Alan Binger will assist on the ice for both teams. The teams will practice together, but unlike last year they will not be sharing the ice with the bantam team. Players should be in full gear at the skating session on September 30. If a player is unable to attend this session please notify Alan Binger at redwings@nwonline.net. Friday, April 7 Constitutional Amendment to be Voted On The FYHBA Board of Directors is recommending a constitutional amendment to be voted on at the FYHBA annual meeting on April 25. Click on "Handouts" to view the text of the amendment. The essence of the amendment is to alter the terms of directors to two years so that either 3 or 4 members have terms expiring each year. It is felt that this will help with the flow of the board as members change. There is also a change recommended that would have the general membership electing the directors, but then the directors organizing and electing officers much like a school board does. Please plan to attend the April 25th meeting to voice your opinion and vote on this amendment as well as elect the board of directors for the 2006-07 fiscal year. Tuesday, March 14 Upcoming FYHBA Board Meetings There are two upcoming FYHBA meeetings coming up. On Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30 there will be a board meeting that will focus on a review of the season. On Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. will be the official annual meeting of the association. Everyone is encouraged to attend this meeting as well as this is the annual election of the board for the 2006-07 fiscal year. All members who have paid the $10 annual fee will be allowed to run for board positions, nominate individuals for board positions and vote in the election. Please mark you calendars for these important dates! Wednesday, September 21 Referees Needed Solicitation message to prospective referees: Click on title above. Hello Ice Hockey Officials! I am representing the Fremont Youth Hockey Boosters. Our teams play as the North Coast Ice Wolves and we play out of the Fremont Recreation Complex in Fremont, Ohio. We have joined the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League for the 2005-06 season and will be fielding a squirt, pee wee, bantam and midget team in league play. We will be playing at the A3 or B level in most divisions. Because of our distance from the downtown Cleveland area (approximately 60 miles), we will be scheduling our own officials for home games. The pool of officials in the immediate Fremont area is quite limited so we are soliciting the interest of other experienced officials within an hour's drive of Fremont to work our games. All league games in Fremont will be played on weekends. We will attempt to schedule multiple games whenever possible to help make the trip worthwhile. We will be paying the CSHL mandated officials fees (squirt $20, pee wee $25, bantam $36). Midget games in the CSHL require the 3 official system. Linesmen are paid $25 and the referee $45. If you are interested in getting some officiating assignments in Fremont this season please reply with the following information. Name: Address: Phone Number: Email address: 2005-06 Certification Level: Years of experience: Preferred Division(s): Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you in stripes in Fremont this season! We are having a "cash raffle" with the winner taking home $500. There will also be two $250 prizes. Each player is being asked to sell 20 raffle tickets at $5. Multi-player families are being asked to sell just 10 tickets for the second or third player. For the more motivated salesmen, anyone selling more than his/her 20 tickets, the player will be credited for 1/2 of any revenue sold over 20 tickets toward their hockey fees. Hopefully everyone will get their tickets sold. This is a great way to help keep our fees low. The drawing will be held on November 20. Sunday, September 11 Website Sponsors Needed To help defray the cost of operating the FremontHockey.org website we are searching for advertisers that would like to place an ad on the site. For a cost of $100 per year your banner ad will rotate at the top of the page. No more than 5 ads will be sold guaranteeing that your ad will appear no less than 20% of the time. Friday, June 3 New Logo Announced The FYHBA Board of Trustees has unveiled a new logo for the 2005-06 season. Realizing that a new program means a new direction and a separation from the previous programs, North Coast Ice Wolves also respects the significant impact that the fledgling travel squirt program made last season. With the change, the website will now be known as www.fremonthockey.org. Please make the necessary changes if you have links established to the old site. The www.fremontheathockey.com address will be phased out, but will continue to link to the new site for the time being. A special thanks to Marc LeDuc for his hard work in designing the Ice Wolves logo! |
