FGSA & SOFTBALL NEWS
We are starting the 2nd quarter of Season 2010. We are preparing for registration, banners, flyers and newspaper ads will start appearing in the next few months. The Board still needs a number of spots filled to make this a successful season.
Early Registration is January 23, 2010 and February 6, 2010 at Irvington Community Center or Los Cerritos Community Center. If your daughter is new to the league you will need to have her birth certificate for verification of age. We accept cash or checks for the registration cost of $100. If you are signing up siblings the cost of the all other siblings is $80. We offer a buyout option of $50, this will pay for 4 pancake breakfast tickets, 4 gift cards and the minimum fee for the hit-a-thon.
Last year we had gift cards that purchased one pizza and the second pizza was free. This year our fundraising director is hard at work trying to obtain a gift card with multiple vendors. These could include buy one get one free or a precentage off your meal. She needs to go to each vendor and sign them up with the program but we are excited by the possibilities.
We gave away great gifts (DS and IPOD) to the girls in each division that raised the most money for the hit-a-thon. This program will continue for the new season and our fundraising director is working on providing some exciting prizes for those hard working girls who obtain the most sponsors.
Watch for our banners and ads in the paper. Watch for flyers to be coming home in your daughters school notices. (The flyer is in the Handout/Forms section of the website) And as always look at the website often.
Summary of Meeting December 8, 2009

Rules committee will meet on December 17, 2009, the committee is made up of Division Directors and Tournament Director and led by the First Vice President. The position of First Vice President is not filled at this time, the President will step in to facilitate the meeting.

The Board discussed the flyers to be given to schools, board members chose the schools they will distribute flyers. Flyers will also be mailed to the list of girls in the database

Advertising will be in the Tri City Voice and the Argus.

The board discussed reports submitted by the treasurer, budget summaries and bank reconciliation. The Board approved the Treasurer to pay outstanding bills.

A newsletter will come out sometime in February.

Volunteer Rewards Program
To maintain our Volunteer Rewards Program a new 1st Vice President will need to be elected. This program was very successful and the teams responded to the challenge. If you are interested in assisting the Board please call 510 315-4950
Featured Board Member
Tim Hogan is joining our Board for his first season, his daughter started playing in the league in 2004. Tim has taken on the task of managing our Tournament Teams. This position has been vacant for a number of years and recently vacated by Dan Nardoni. He is already proposing a number of fundraisers for the tournament teams, he will standardize the uniforms and is looking to the future to have an FGSA sponsored tournament in Fremont. Tim is going through our roster of managers and coaches to determine who might be willing and able to coach 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U tournament teams and we thank Tim for taking on this exciting position. Tim also generously donates his conference room at Bayside Interiors for the Board to meet. Thank-you to Tim for bringing excitement and fresh ideas to the Board. If you are interested in our Tournament teams or would like to coach a team contact Tim Hogan at 510-315-4950. All girls who play Tournament ball must be members in good standing in FGSA.
