Frederick Cat Vet --Machine Pitch Baseball Team: My Site News

Monday, May 12
Check Don't forget about the Hit-A-Thon (HAT) and Picture Day! The date is rapidly approaching! Sunday May 18th! Picture schedule coming soon. Ho

Each player will earn an at bat for every $10 in sponsorship money they collect.  The maximum at bats per player is 10.  An at bat will consist of a fair ball that travels more than 20 feet.  For Tee Ball and Machine Pitch the distance measured will be how far a ball travels until it stops rolling.  For Minors and Majors we will measure how far a ball travels in flight.  All at bats will be taken from a batting tee!  Should there be a tie at the end of the divisional contest the players will hold a bat-off.  If players do not wait around until the end of their division he/she will forfeit their chance to finish first.

Cat of the Week -- 4/21
Vanessa

Vanessa is a foster care client of Dr. Karg and now available for adoption through Frederick County Animal Control. Vanessa arrived at the Animal Shelter as a stray on January 2, 2008 in pretty rough condition. With some TLC, a proper diet, and indoor accommodations, she has turned into quite a stunning senior. Her hobbies include napping on warm, sunny places on the carpet and purring. She enjoys giving hugs and nuzzling. She interrupts her purring with an adorable “chirp” when she knows it’s mealtime.

Vanessa is already spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, FeLV/FIV tested negative, and microchipped. Dr. Karg recently performed a dental on her.

You can visit Vanessa at the Frederick County Animal Control Division, 1832 Rosemont Avenue. For more information, please contact her foster mom, Linda, at 301-600-1735 or LSHEA@fredco-md.net. Vanessa’s adoption fee is $97.50.

Baseball glove size and fit

Sizing Chart
Age Position Glove size
Under 8 Infield 9 inches
Under 8 Outfield 11 inches
9-13 Infield 9-10 inches
9-13 Outfield 11-12 inches
High School/Adult Infield 10 1/2-11 1/2 inches
High School/Adult Outfield 12-12 1/2 inches

Fit Tips

Youth and Beginner:

Gloves that are too big allow "cheating," preventing beginners from developing and refining proper skills. Kids' gloves should not be bought to be grown into. The best way to learn the fundamentals of fielding and catching is by wearing a glove that fits well

Kids 12 and Under:

No larger than 12 inches. Kids 8 and older should try gloves in the 11s, while younger kids (especially if they are smaller) should consider gloves in 9 to 11 inch range.

Adolescent:

Choose the lower end of the adult size range for your position.
