2009 Tournaments

FALL RIVER – The Strickman Cup, a new adult team tennis competition, will be hosted June 25-30 at the historic Fetherdic Tennis Club’s clay courts by the Fall River Community Tennis Association.    

The event is open to clubs, leagues or groups of individuals that can form a team in a three-match (1 Singles & 2 Doubles) Team Tennis format.  The doubles matches will consist of a player of each level EX: 1(3.5)+ 1(3.0) player.  You can play 2 of the lowest level players, but NOT two of the higher NTRP rated players. 

Teams should be at least 5 players and be of the following ratings: 

8.5 would consist of 4.5 & 4.0 players
7.5 would consist of 4.0 & 3.5 players
6.5 would consist of 3.5 & 3.0 players
5.5 would consist of 3.0 & 2.5 players

Player ratings are based on the United States Tennis Association’s formula.    

The competition is named in memory of Leo Strickman, a long time tennis enthusiast, promoter and organizer who also served as Bishop Connolly High School’s boys tennis coach well into his 80s.    

The event is June 15. Each team should include at least five players, and there is a $200 fee per team.

Individual players seeking to compete may place their names on a player reserve list and will get placed on teams as openings allow. The winning team members will receive trophies and the team will get possession of the Strickman Cup for one year.
