Franklin Family Day is Canceled
Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather and more conflicts than you can possibly imagine, Franklin Lacrosse Family Day has been canceled for this year.
However,
Thanks to the kind donations from the Millon Lacrosse Camp and the NESLL Lacrosse Camp, and the creativity of Tom Sousa, we raised over $700 for the Paul Barry Fund!
We are still planning on sending a care package to LCPL Childers. Please bring your donated items to 54 Bridle Path on Friday, June 19 from 6-8 PM. Be sure to sign the card, even if you don't wish to donate at this time. If you have items, but can't make the drop off date/time, please e-mail franklinlax@yahoo.com to arrange an alternative.
Thanks to all of the players, coaches, and parents for a great season. We look forward to seeing you all next year. Watch for sign-ups in October. In the meantime, have a great summer!
Offseason Drills
Though the season is over, there is still plenty you can do to improve your game:
1) "Wall Ball". Work on throwing with both your strong and your off hand. Alternate throwing with one hand and catching with the other;
2) Ground Balls. Throw yourself groundballs. Work on proper scooping technique (two hands, scoop through the balls, no raking) then get your head up and turn away from the pressure.
3) Dodging. Using a friend, a tree, a lamp post or your imagination as a defender, work on roll and faces dodges, as well as split dodges (for those who feel comfortable with your off hand).
4) Jump rope. Foot speed and quickness is vital to lacrosse and nothing improves these better than jumping rope. If you don't want to use your sister's Barbie jump rope, most sports stores carry a variety of jump ropes.
5) One Hand Cradling. Middies and attack should work on cradling with one hand (work on both right and left hands), while using free arm to guard. Remember to keep the free arm still or you will get called for warding off.
