Franklin Wins the 9 Year-Old Softball All-Star District Championship

The Franklin Little League 9-Year-Old Softball All-Stars captured the
Wisconsin District 6 Championship July 19. Franklin posted a 4-1
tournament record and faced elimination before claiming the crown.

Franklin opened tournament play with a 9-0 win over Greenfield. The
All-Stars dropped a hard-fought 8-7 battle to South Milwaukee. In a
must-win game, Franklin overcame an 8-3 deficit to post a 10-9 win over
Oak Creek. On Championship Sunday, Franklin had to post two wins to
claim the title. The team registered a 12-5 victory in game one and then
held on for a 7-4 win in the final game of the tournament.

The team was comprised of 13 girls - Quinn Bachofen, Erika Chelius,
Cassie Collins, Hattie Harmeyer, Tina Hennig, Lindsay Herman, Katelyn
Hoffert, Jordan Kostrzewa, Megan Lee, Allie Marion, Samantha Poweleit,
Betsy Rilling, and Gina Sommerfeld. Kevin Marion and Craig Rilling were
coaches and Kathleen Hohl managed the team.

"This was an amazing experience for our players, the coaches, and all of
the families," said Hohl. "These girls showed amazing heart and
competitiveness and were terrific at the plate and in the field. We
couldn't be prouder of the effort they showed in every game. Our goal
was to have fun and the best way to have fun was to win it all."
