****** IMPORTANT NEW LEAGUE ELIGIBILITY CHANGE FOR 2014 ********
NEW FOR 2014, Little League Baseball® has modified the rules that govern who can play in a local league. A player can now choose to join a league if the school they attend is within the league boundaries, even if they live outside of the league's area. For a full description of the new rule click here.
The Fox Point/East Side Little League is open only to children who live or attend school in the Fox Point/East Side area. There are no exceptions. The full rule on eligibility can be found here. Our league is bounded on the north by the Providence/Pawtucket line, to the east by the Seekonk River, to the south by Interstate 195 and to the west by Interstate 95. Back to top
All players must have a copy of a government-issued proof-of-age document (birth certificate) on file with the league. If your child is new to the Fox Point/East Side Little League this year, you must provide us with an original proof-of-age document during the Spring Tryout/Evaluation Sessions. We will make a photocopy of your original document and return the original document to you on the spot. If your child is a returning player, we already have a birth certificate on file; you do NOT need to provide us with another one! Please note: Religious documents such as baptismal certificates are NOT valid for this purpose. Back to top

Evaluation Sessions (Additional Information)
All players who wish to play in the Majors and ALL 12 year olds are required to attend at least one of our two Spring Evaluation Sessions! We do not hold evaluation sessions for younger players. We recommend that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the evaluation session. Your child should come to the session with a baseball glove, sneakers and dressed in clothes that are suitable for play. At the start of the session the session leader will make a few introductory remarks to the players and they will then be divided up into small groups for evaluation. Each group will be asked to perform a variety of fundamental baseball skills - throwing, catching, and hitting. The evaluation results are confidential and are for use by the team selection committee only. Your child should be notified of his/her team assignment within 2 weeks of the final evaluation session. Team Selection Process:
During our team selection process we strive to ensure that:
teams within each division are well balanced and fair
each child is placed in the division that is the best match for his/her developmental skills
siblings (in the same division) are assigned together or apart per their parent's wishes
girls are balanced among the teams - whenever possible, at least 2 girls will be placed on each team
We rely on our evaluation sessions to place our older (10+) players and our coaches' knowlege of the players in order to make the team assignments for the younger players. Back to top
