Four County Little League of Mt. Airy, MD: Spring Divisions
The players league age is determined as of April 30 of each year. A player's league age is a guideline as to where he/she should play. Although there are some rules that must be followed when it comes to age, a players division placement is subject to his/her ability.

The culmination of the International Tournament is the Junior League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe.
11/12 Sunday only 70'
This division is new for 2011. This is a Sunday only 11/12 year old baseball division in which the players play on a 70' diamond utilizing Junior division rules. This is a great way for older kids to transition to the 90' diamond and or provide additional competitive baseball. In this division, there will be some traveling in the Maryland area. Players can not play on this team alone. Players who choose the additional Sunday program, must play with their traditional "In House" Majors team Monday through Saturday and then play with this team on Sundays. Majors (Competitive Baseball)
The Little League Baseball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls "League Age" 9-12. Little League Baseball is the first taste of competitive baseball still keeping in mind the philosophy of the Positive Coaching Alliance. Players in the Majors division must try out and be selected. Teams are then formed from a draft style processes. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet. Players learn advanced fundamentals while in a competitive environment. Players improve on their pitching, catching, and fielding abilities while gaining more knowledge on the mental aspects of baseball. Emphasis is placed on playing as a team, and what each position needs to do to accomplish a team victory. This is highly competitive and scores and records are kept throughout the season. The winning Majors team from our local league will represent the District at the Tournament of Champions held each June.
After the "regular season" is complete, the league selects it's Tournament Teams (or "All Stars"). Most years teams consist of a 9-10 division, a 10-11 division and an 11-12 division (Little League Baseball). The league then enters the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League Baseball.
Minors (Instructional Baseball)
Minor League Baseball programs for boys and girls may be operated within each division for younger players with less experience. The minor league may be players "League Age" 7-12. FCLL's rosters are usually 12-14 players for each team. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet. More emphasis is placed on the rules of the game but fundamentals are still taught and practiced. This division is not competitive although scores and records are kept as well. Games and practices will be held 1-2 days during the week and every Saturday.
After the regular season the top minor league players are selected and reprent Four County Little League in tournaments in June/July. This past season, our minors team took home the "Emory Frye Memorial Tournament Championship" trophy. If you think that your child has the ability to make this team, please do not schedule vacations during June and July. 100% practice participation is required by all of our All-Star players.
Rookies (Boys/Girls League age 7-8)
This is the first year of Coach pitch baseball. Players learn the timing of hitting a thrown baseball while also improving their base running and fielding skills. Catchers begin to develop in this division as well. More emphasis is put on learning game situations than winning. This league is non-competitive and no scores will be kept. Practices and games will be held 1-2 days a week and every Saturday.
Players 6 years old, that have participated for one regular season in the Tee Ball Division, are eligible for a coach pitch (Rookies) team.
Tee Ball (Boys/Girls League Age 5-6)
Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls 5-6 years old who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. No live pitching is permitted in this division. Generally, the diamond used is a 60-foot diamond, but the league has the option to use a 50-foot diamond. All games are non-competitive and no scores will be kept. Games and practices are held 1 day during the week and every Saturday.
T-Ball Clinic
T-Ball Clinic is a players first look at baseball/softball. Here we emphasis the basic of catching, throwing and hitting off of tee in a mostly clinic setting. This level of play is geared toward kids "League Age" four. The clinics are held on Saturdays only and mainly consist of fun drills and games designed for young players. By the end of the season the goal is to move into a game setting and prepare the kids for T-Ball which is your next level of play.
Girls Softball (Girls League age 7-12)
As of the 2010 season FCLL will no longer offer Girls Softball. In the future it is the hope of the league to bring Little League Softball back to FCLL, but until we do we would like to invite you to play in any of our co-ed baseball divisions. Keep in mind in the 2009 Little League World Series there were two females playing against the best boys in the world. Baseball is for both Boys and Girls. If you have questions about the changes made, please contact information@fcllbaseball.org.
