Park Improvement Proposal
Park Improvement Proposal
The Fossil Park Neighborhood Association was formed to promote social activities, advance community goals, and secure neighborhood protection. Recently they put together a committee to address the parking problem along Atwood Ave. Fossil Park Baseball board members were asked to sit on this committee as well.
This committee is looking at addressing the problem of parking by removing the t-ball field and replacing it with a multi-purpose field located between the Junior and Major fields with home plate going in the area currently occupied by the concession stand. This would be possible because the city is looking at rebuilding the concession stand between the Junior Field and the pool.
The proposal will probably also include putting additional parking spaces in the front parking lot near the back of the Major Field. We will be better able to evaluate the requirements for additional parking if everyone tries to park in the rec center, pool, or library parking lots.
When the committee has a proposal they are comfortable with presenting to the neighborhood it will be voted on by the neighborhood. If you live within this neighborhood we encourage you to attend the meeting so your vote can be counted. The neighborhood is bounded by 77th Avenue North, 62nd Avenue North, 4th Street North, and 9th Street North. The Fossil Park Neighborhood Assoc. meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Huber Garden which is located at 521 Atwood Ave.
If you do not live in Fossil Park and have questions or concerns that you would like addressed please bring them to the attention of the board members on the committee so you voice can also be heard. The committees baseball representatives are: Rick Shaw, Bob Minor, Mike Rees, and Tina Boeving.
