This message was an email from Coach Steve Blanchard and is for the current Freshman:
Polar Bear also has middle school programs.. It would not be a bad idea to try and get the stick in action over the winter. It's lots of fun and come spring you will be ahead of the game! Coach Q
Lacrosse Families,
I hope everyone had a great summer and are successfully back in the school year routine. There have been some questions about off season lacrosse. While we don’t require participation or endorse and particular program, we strongly encourage you to get out and play to maintain and improve your skills and have fun.
FMHS Off Season FMHS Practice:
There will be an off season window of time (November 1st through 21st) for lacrosse practice. Please spread the word to all players and potential players. This is a great time for first time players to “try it out”. Practice details will follow.
Fall/Winter Programs:
1. StickWithUs
Lumberjack (Fall): Weekly games (Saturdays) September 11th through October 23rd at Elon 521 Park. Registration deadline in September 3rd.
Polar Bear (Winter): Weekly games through the winter and leading up to the season. They will put us all on the same team so it’s a good time to get back in the game, knock the rust off and play together leading up to opening day 2011. Registration will be somewhere in the November time frame.
Fall: Weekly sessions (Sundays) including instruction (45 minutes) and games (45 minutes) at Cuthbertson HS (Weddington area). Registration deadline is August 27.
** Check with your captains and teammates to determine where everyone is playing.
Travel Opportunities:
There are some fall (and beyond) travel opportunities through StickWithUs. some are for teams forming now that will extend through next summer. Others are to fill spots for the fall season on existing team.
There will be travel opportunities for next summer through various programs with tryouts beginning anytime now through spring.
1. Team Palmetto (SC)
2. Excell Storm (SC)
3. Carolina Select (NC)
4. StickWithUs (NC)
Others...
Remember to get out and play! Find a friend to throw and catch with, get on the wall for hours of wall ball, sign up for a program like those listed above, etc. Let’s get prepared for a great and successful season.
