WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD MEN!
The Fort Hill Wrestling Team is seeking SMART, HARDWORKING, individuals from all backgrounds to be a part of OUR VARSITY AND JUNIOR VARSITY TEAMS. No prior wrestling experience is necessary. We WILL train you in the Sport of Wrestling. Our Coaching Staff will give you the proper conditioning and knowledge to succeed. IF YOU DO NOT QUIT YOU WILL NOT BE CUT!

FH Wrestlers have distinguished themselves as some of the highest caliber of athletes in High School. Because of the physical demands inherent in the sport of wrestling, prospective FH Wrestlers go through what most feel are the toughest practices in High School Sports.

103lbs, 112lbs, 119lbs, 125lbs, 130lbs, 135lbs, 140lbs, 145lbs, 152lbs, 160lbs, 171lbs, 189lbs, 215lbs, and 285lbs.

If so, sign up in the Main Office ASAP.

Youth Wrestling Sign-ups and Spirit Night

The sign-ups for the Fort Hill Wrestling Club will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at Ci-Ci's Pizza in LaVale. Again this year we are holding sign-ups in conjunction with a "Spirit Night". If you eat make sure that your are with the Fort Hill Wrestling Club. The registration fee is $30. 2009-2010 Team Captains announced!

The votes are in...congradulations to the following wrestlers on being voted as this years team captains. Senior Glen Vincent, Junior Antonio Candler, Senior Andrew Doyle, and Junior James Bender. This will be Glen Vincent and Antonio Candler's second season being voted by the team as captains. Glen is a returning Maryland 1A-2A Regional and State qualifier. Antonio is also a returning 1A-2A Regional qualifier. Robert Vincent, who is also a returning 1A-2A Maryland Regional Qualifier, and Jesus Candler were both tied as alternate captains. Fort Hill Wrestling is coming off a great season last year as they earned the most duel meet wins in Fort Hill wrestling history (21 wins beating out previous record of 18 wins) and hopes to continue the trend.

Monday, December 21
T.R. Davis Memorial Tournament is Postponed!

The second day of wrestling for the T.R. Davis Memorial Tournament has been postponed due to weather. The second day of wrestling will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd at 3PM.

There is no practice today, Monday, December 21st due to the weather.



Tuesday, December 22
Tonight's Williamsport Match has been Canceled!

Washington County schools are closed today, Tuesday, December 22nd. So, the Williamsport wrestling match and the Junior High match with Frankfort both have been canceled. They will be rescheduled at a later date.

There will be a regular practice following school today.



Wednesday, December 23
Sentinels Take 2nd Place at 2009 TR Davis Memorial Tournament
 

In a snow filled week, the Fort Hill Wrestling team kept it together to dig out a 2nd place finish at Mountain Ridge's Dual Tournament.  Fort Hill defeated Allegany 54-27, Petersburg 72-12, Preston 60-15, Hampshire 63-18, and Frankfort 79-(-1). The Sentinel's only losses were to Mountain Ridge 42-33 and Buckhannon Upshur 39-35.

 

Fort Hill won 1st place in six individual weight classes. Taking 1st place for the Sentinels were Glen Vincent (12) at 215lbs, Antonio Candler (11) at 125lbs, Brian Thompson (11) at 130lbs, Nick Meneghini (10) at 145lbs, Robert Vincent (11)at 152lbs, and Andrew Doyle (12) at 189lbs.

 

The Sentinels also had four 2nd place finishes. Skylar Atkinson (10) at 103lbs, Dillon Darr (10) at 119lbs, Jesus Candler (10) at 135lbs, and James Bender (11) at 160lbs all took 2nd place for Fort Hill. Buddy Crabtree (11) and Shane Steckman (12) both had 3rd place finishes.

SUPER DUALS REVISED SCHEDULE
Due to the cancellation of schools in Allegany and Frederick Counties, the first day of the Super Duals will be rescheduled for Wednesday, January 13th. The 2nd day will continue as schedule for Saturday with a 9:00am Weigh-in and 10:30PM start time.

Fort Hill Goes 8-0 But Only Takes 2nd at Duals

BALTIMORE?— Fort Hill earned a second place finish based on "cumlative team points" as the last tie-breaker this past weekend. By going a perfect 8-0, the Sentinels beat everyone in the tournament except Patterson Mills who they were not scheduled to wrestle due to the tournament format. Fort Hill had six individual champions during the Dundalk Duals.

The Sentinels breezed through most of its competition with it’s closest victory being a 45-33 win over hosting Dundalk. They beat Patterson 41-36, crushed Patapsco 69-12 and Long Reach 59-18. Fort Hill grabbed a 78-6 decision over Carver before handing Sparrows a 45-27 defeat.

The team’s biggest win of the day was a 84-0 shutout of Silver Oak, and a 60-18 win against Digital Harbor gave Fort Hill a perfect 8-0 tourney.

Individually, the Sentinels were led by Glenn Vincent, who improved to 25-0 on the season by winning the 215-pound class. Andrew Doyle at the 189 division, James Bender at 152, Robert Vincent at 145 and Nick Meneghini at 140 also were champions. Brian Thompson took the 125-pound division for the Sentinels sixth title.

Skyler Atkinson (112)?and Noah Chandler (135)?finished 7-1 and 6-2, respectively, for second place finishes.

Fort Hill (17-8)?will play Boonsboro at home this evening

2010 WESTERN MARYLAND SPRING CLASSIC ENTRY FORM - CLICK HERE
Maryland's premier "Open" wrestling tournament will be held on Saturday, March 13th, 2010, at Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland. The Western Maryland Spring Classic is a fun, family event that showcases wrestlers from ages 5 years old and above from atleast 4 states.

Glenn Vincent takes 4th at States!!

 

PhotobucketSenior Glenn Vincent wrestled HARD last weekend and finished 4th overall in the 1A/2A 215lbs division at the 2010 Maryland State Wrestling Tournament in the Cole Field House. 

Glenn won his first match by beating Nick Hubbard (CSD) 2-1. Glenn then went on to win his next match by pinning Payton Rose (HAM) 3:37. Then Glenn lost the next match to the eventual Maryland State Champ Justin Kozera (WMI). But he fought back by pinning Glenn Greg Stokes (MMR) 3:27. Glenn would lose in the consolation finals to Caleb Andrews (CNT) but he wrestled a great tournament! Congrats to him on a great finish to his Season!Photobucket

Fort Hill Wrestling Banquet to be Held May 18!

The 2010 Fort Hill Wrestling Banquet will be held at the Cumberland Outdoor Club's upstairs hall on Tuesday, May 18th, at 6:30 PM. It is a joint banquet for the High School and Junior High teams.  It is free for wrestlers and coaches. The cost for guests will be $11.00 that will be paid at the door. You must RSVP to your coach or Bernie Nichols no later than May 11th.
