SOX PLAY DOUBLE-HEADER – JACOB RETURNS TO THE DUGOUT!
Forney, TX – Our Forney White Sox faced the Forney Gators for the first game of their Double Header this past Saturday. The a beautiful crisp clear October Saturday in Forney was extra special with the return of White Sox star Jacob who missed the first half of the season! It was great to see Jacob back in uniform… giving the Sox that extra bat and spirit!Brandon R started on the mound for the Sox and shut down the Gator holding them scoreless in the top of the first inning. Zack would lead off in the bottom of the first for the Sox with a single to right. However, he would be stranded and the game would be scoreless after one inning of play. The Gators would explode for 6 runs in the top of the 2nd inning taking stringing together a couple of hit batters, walks and a few hits and a few “trick” running plays that took advantage of Sox “rustiness”… the Sox would not have an answer in the bottom of the second and the Gator would find themselves with a commanding 6-0 lead after 2 innings of play.Jacob, now on the mound for White Sox looked good in his first appearance and would shut them down in the top of the third inning. However, the Sox would still be held scoreless in their half of the third. The Gators would be shut down again in the 4th inning and the White Sox would finally bring a couple runs across in the bottom of the 4th inning. Brandon R would start of the inning with a base-on-balls. Noah would follow with a hit-batter and Andy would drill a single to left-center bringing home a run. Though Nick would walk to load up the bases… the Sox would strand three and only come up with 2 runs. The Sox trailed the Gators 6-2 after 4 innings of play. The Gators would add a couple of insurance runs in the top of the 5th inning but the Sox would finally begin to shake off their “rustiness” and begin hitting in the bottom of the 5th inning. Spencer and Taylor would start off the inning with walks and Jacob would follow with a single to center. Zack would walk to load up the bases. Noah followed with a rip liner to left field for a long single bringing in a runner. However, the Sox would score just one run… for the time would expire giving the game to the Gators 8-3.The White Sox returned for the night-cap to play the Rangers. The Rangers jumped ahead and scored a big 6 runs on our White Sox in the 1st inning… and our Sox answered with a big zero. The Rangers would add to their lead by stringing together many walks and hits in the next few innings. Though the Sox began to get to the Ranger pitchers… they would find themselves stranding the bases-loaded for two straight innings… Though the Rangers would be in the lead, our White Sox would never give up. Our Sox would play as a team… Noah would take the mound for our White Sox and had a terrific outing… KOing 5 Ranger batters and getting another to hit a weak tap back to the mound to him in the two innings that he pitched!
The Sox looked good by the end of the day… this is what Fall Baseball is all about… Testing batting line-ups… players at different positions… working as a team… camaraderie... players helping each other... getting better… the more they play, the better they will be...
Our White Sox are truly playing a higher-level!
