Forest Hills 7/8 Bombers go for the Championship!
2008TravelTeam_7-8_300

The Forest Hills 7/8 Bombers earned the right to play in the championship game with a thrilling 3 to 1 victory over The Ozone Howard Terminators. It was a tense game as both teams did their best to push a run across the plate to try to take the lead. The Terminators had their chances as they were able to get at least two men on base in every inning but great pitching and defense by the Bombers shut down the rallies. The Bombers had their chances also. In the second, Dylan led off with a double. Tommy and Daniel walked to load the bases with one out. The Terminators' pitcher came back and got the next two batters to end the scoring opportunity.

Ozone Howard threatened again with two on and no outs in the top of the fourth and even loaded the bases after two outs. They were all left stranded. In the bottom of the fourth Dylan singled with one out for the Bombers but was left stranded too. As the game got further along, the teams kept trading zeros on the scorebook.

Micheal started for the Bombers and had to work through every inning. The terminators were able to get men on but Micheal always reached down and got that last out before any damage was down. He pitched 2 and 2/3 innings before reaching the maximum 75 pitches thrown, allowing no runs while striking out 7. Maia relieved him in the bottom of the third and got the last out on a fly to center that Zion made a good play on. She also had to work hard as the hitters for Ozone Howard were patient and had a good eye at the plate.  Maia got out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth. Arthur helped out with an assist on a grounder to second in the fifth and Maia finished with 6 strikeouts for the game while pitching 3 innings.

The Bombers would finally break the shutout in the bottom of the fifth. Daniel started it off with a lead off single and advanced to second on a bad throw. Garrett walked and after two outs, Maia walked to load the bases. Micheal came up and delivered a line shot into right field that went to the fence. Daniel, Garrett and Maia all raced home on the triple and the Bombers were ahead 3 to 0. Awesome stroke Micheal! Good hustle on the base pads team!

The Terminators battle hard all game long and were not going down in the sixth without a fight. Maia retired the first two batters but the next two got on by walks. She also reached the 75 pitch limited and had to come out. Casey was called on to get the final out. Tension filled the air as she hit the first batter she faced and loaded the bases. She got the next batter to hit a grounder but the team could not covert it for a putout and a run scored. With two outs and the tying and wining runs on base ready to go on any contact, both benches were on the edge of their seats "willing" the outcome of the game. Casey struck out the next batter looking on a 3-2 pitch to save the game for the Bombers and send them to the championship game! Great Save Casey!
Great pitching Micheal and Maia!

The entire team chipped in for this win. The outfield of Daniel, Casey, Zion and Garrett got to hits, backed up well, caught a fly ball and got the ball in quickly to prevent the runners from advancing. The infield of Maia, Micheal, Arthur, Dylan and Tommy covered their bases, kept their gloves down and made a few good stops. Andrew did a great job catching behind the plate. He was getting his glove on everything and caught a bunch of foul tips too. He definitely helped out his pitchers. Great Job Team!

So far in this playoff, the home team has won each game. It's too bad that Forest Hills will break that streak to take the Championship at Bayside. Watch out Bayside - Here come the Bombers! Go Bombers!!!

Forest Hills 9/10 & 11/12 Travel Teams Win Both NY District 26 and Summer Tournaments !!

Congratulations to the Forest Hills 9/10 & 11/12 Travel Teams for winning both their NY District 26 and summer tournaments for the first time in FHLL history.  Both teams dominated their oppontents in the championship game with shutout scores of 7-0 for the 9/10s to win the Rosenbluth Tournament and 12-0 for the 11/12s to win the Gorman Tournament.  Between both teams, a total of 28 runs were scored in the playoff and championship games while only giving up one run.  Equally as impressive was the home field advantage both teams had for each of their playoff and championship games.

The FHLL would like to thank the hugh and enthusiastic crowds that came down to the FHLL Fleet Street ballfields with special thanks going to the parents and coaches for supporting their youngsters and our league; we are very grateful for that.

Thank you for a great summer and best of luck this coming school year!

CHAMPS ONCE AGAIN - FH BEATS VALHALLA 14-10
    by Coach Evan Spilke
July 25, 2006 - The Forest Hills Bombers, ages 13-14 won the SECTION 3 CHAMPIONSHIP Game with another come from behind victory. With this win the Bombers advance to the NY STATE Junior Baseball Championship in Greece, New York.

The Bombers trailed 9 to 4 when Michael Rubin, Matthew Hunter and Nick Kumeloseki started a big rally. Jesse Friedman, Adam Sorin and Edan Sucov knocked in runs to cut the deficit to 9 to 7. Then Cory Hope took over the game. He had a 2 run double to tie the game and after a clutch hit by Yuan Ming Cai which gave the Bombers the lead for good he knocked in a big insurance run with another double. Jesse Friedman followed with a 2 run double of his own to finish the scoring. Timmy Hoxha, Edan Sucov, Cory Hope and Nick Kumeloseki pitched for the Bombers. Once again this was a total team effort. This is the furthest Forest Hills has gone in a long long time. Load up the bus it to upstate New York in the NY State Championship this weekend.

    JUST ONE MORE WIN...
    by Coach Evan Spilke
July 23, 2006 - The FH Bombers continued their stellar play with an emotional 4 to 2 victory over Inwood. Jesse Friedman continued his dominant play with a Homerun which tied the game and a double which led to the winning run. The game was tied in the last inning when Adam Sorin had a 2 out 2 strike double knocking in 2 runs. Sorin's clutch hit was like his 4 rbi's in the district championship one week before. Stellar defense from Michael Rubin and Matthew Hunter was instrumental in the victory. JT Dimitra pitched a dominant game going all 7 innings and also chipping in with 2 hits. The team is playing great. One more win and they are champs once again

FOREST HILLS IS ON A ROLL...
    by Coach Evan Spilke
July 22, 2006 - The Forest Hills Bombers, 13 and 14 year old team representing Forest Hills Little League, scored a tremendous come from behind victory 5 to 3 in the first game of the Sectional tournament defeating a team from Cortlandt Manor. The gritty Bombers rallied with 4 runs in the last inning, 3 scoring on Jesse Friedman clutch double. Yuan Ming Cai had 2 doubles and 2 rbi's. Jesse Friedman, JT Dimitra and Timmy Hoxha propelled the team on the mound with Dimitra getting a big out in the 6th and Hoxha closing the game. The undefeated Bombers will next play the Inwood Allstars, with 2 more wins the Sectional 3 Championship is theirs.

CONGRATULATIONS to the FH Bombers on their 3rd place finish in NY State
    FHBombersStatesAnim2
The Bombers played the most exciting baseball in Forest Hills Little League history by winning the Section 3 Championship advancing to the 2006 NY State Junior League Baseball Tournament in Rochester as one of NY State's top-four teams. The Bombers amazing effort fell just short of making it to the championship game where they played very competitive ball against NY State's best. The league's players, officials and parents are very proud of the FH Bombers accomplishments.
