Foothill Softball - Title Game History

1991: Irvine 1, Foothill 0: Leann Gonzalez, youngest daughter of coach
Gonzalez, pitches a one-hitter but Knights lose as Jennifer Brundage holds Foothill to two hits and Vaqueros score a run in the first inning as nervous Knights defense committs two of their four errors in the game.

1992: Foothill 5, Hart 2: Gonzalez is the winning pitcher this time and goes 2 for 3 with a run scored. Amy Tessman went 2 for3 with an RBI as Knights scored three runs to break a 2-2 tie in the fourth and go on to win the school?s first softball title.

1994: Marina 2, Foothill 0: Knights are surprise of the division as a team with no seniors reach the title game before Marina's Marcy Crouch fires a one-hitter to take the crown.

1997: Upland 3, Foothill 1: Top-ranked Knights committ three errors and give up two runs in the fifth inning in an upset.

2000: Foothill 1, Mater Dei 0: Erin Mobley scores winning run in the eighth inning as Amber Dragomir reaches base on a throwing error on a ground ball that danced on the foul line. Courtney Fossatti and Elizabeth Bendig combine for the shutout. Foothill is later named State and National champion.

2003: Woodbridge 3, Foothill 2 Jiliane Hartfiel's RBI single in the first and Lori Gilbert's solo home run in the second inning give Knights an early lead, but Woodbridge ties the game with two runs in the fourth and win it on a two-out single in the bottom of the 10th. Foothill started the season with only three seniors and struggled to a 6-11 record, but won 16 of 17 to reach the title game.
