Gateway to Opportunity will host the 1st annual "Air Raid" tournament for middle school teams and 14 Under youth football squads. The tournament will be held right before the mandated TSSAA "Dead Period". This tournament will give middle school/youth organizations the opportunity to work on their passing games. In this day in age, the passing game has evolved and has trickled down to the middle school/youth football leagues, that is why this tournament was put together. We at GTO hope you would come and participate and have some fun "chunking" the ball around the scenic city of Chattanooga!

THE VARSITY BOWL YOUTH FOOTBALL CLASSIC

THE Varsity Bowl Youth Football Classic

The Annual Varsity Bowl Youth Football Classic will be held November 25-27 Thursday thru Saturday in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
THE Varsity Bowl Youth Football Classic is in its 3rd year. This 8 (eight) team tournament held in the Scenic City of Chattanooga, was organized to give Varsity level teams (13-14) the opportunity to continue their football seasons for a chance to be named THE Varsity Bowl Youth Football Classic CHAMPION for 2010. We are looking for the best teams from around the U.S. to participate and bring various styles of youth football to the South. Teams will be accepted on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. This is the only tournament that a team can finish no lower than runner-up.
    OUR GOAL:
To provide the players, parents and coaches the best tournament play and atmosphere that we can for these organizations final games.
    TOURNAMENT SPECIFICS:
All teams are guaranteed three games. The tournament field will only accommodate 8 teams.   There will not be any weight limits for this tournament. All games will be officiated by state certified crew. ALL games will play in accordance with the NFHS. ALL games will be 10 minute quarters, running clock with the clock only stopping the last two minutes of each half and in case of OVERTIME the ball will be placed at the 20 yard line (College Football Overtime rules then apply).
    THERE ARE NO TIES.
If a team is down more than 18 points the other team automatically receives the ball at the 40 yard line,
or can still receive a kickoff.
Now this is how the tournament goes. There is an eight team bracket where if you win you continue on towards the title game you lose and you can finish no higher than fifth. Lose again and you are headed towards the 7th place game.
This is how the set-up goes:

Teams with an 0-2 record will compete in the Matthew “Lubbie” Wilkins Memorial Bowl (7th Place game)

1-1 records with a 1st round lost compete in Maurice W. Greer Memorial Bowl (5th Place)

1-1 record with a 2nd round lost will compete in the Paul M. Norwood Memorial Bowl (3rd Place game)

2-0 record will compete in the Varsity Bowl Championship Game.

We feel that at this point of the season that everyone deserves that right to play for a championship
