There is no one single action that can have more of a positive impact on our players than improving the quality and knowledge of our managers and coaches. It is a fact that managers and coaches are the ones who spend the most time interacting with our participants and the ones who can make a childs experience in youth sports fun and memorable. Therefore, it is very important for youth coaches to be properly trained to focus more on the childs baseball experience and less on winning games.
For 2008, FYB is requiring that all all-star coaches be registered to take the Coaching Exam before the all-star selection meeting of 2008 (sometime towards the end of the season). Only registration is required at this time.
For the Spring 2009 season, FYB is requiring that ALL coaches for both the regular season and all-stars be certified.
If these requirements are not met, then replacements will be made. These requirements are mandated by our Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken National organization. Thank you for your support in this matter.
FYB is putting together committees to help with the decision making of the league. This will allow input from coaches and parents who want to be involved in helping FYB grow and improve, without being a Board Member. Each committee should be chaired by a Board member who reports back to the Board for the final vote on the topic at hand.
Some committees to be formed are:
CONCESSIONS - Help organize and see that all needs of kids and fans are met.
FACILITIES - Help make sure fields are safe and ready to play on. Also help with the expansion of the Lions Club Complex and the Pleasant Grove fields. Input from many will be very important on the Lions Club fields.
TOURNAMENTS - Help with organizing tournaments for FYB. This will include Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth tournaments as well as invitationals.
FUND RAISING - Help with ideas and organizing.
BUDDY BALL "SPECIAL NEEDS" - Help FYB by putting together ideas and efforts to make this program grow. This has so much potential and we need to put all of our efforts into it.
Everyone's help in FYB is needed and your voice will be heard. If there are other areas that need to be addressed please let us know.

Why, yes! We are Tax Exempt!
Last year we were pleased to announce that we applied to the IRS for tax exempt status and was granted such on ...
Link your Food Lion MVP card number to the Shop and Share program and designate Fluvanna Youth Baseball as the benefactor.
It's easy and convenient. Every time you use your card at Food Lion, a portion of your total grocery purchase will be donated to the the league. At the end of each quarter, Food Lion will divide the Funds proportionally among the Lion Shop & Share organizations depending on their total accumulated sales. This could be up to $1400 a year for the league.
Thanks!
Thank you for helping with Concessions and for using the trash receptacles to keep our fields clean. Your league depends on you!
If you are interested in sponsoring a spring 2009 team or have any questions about your sponsorship letter you received, please call Tina, 293-3040.
The League would like to extend a special thanks to the 2008 sponsors listed below. Without their generous support, baseball in Fluvanna would not be possible.
