Fletcher Lacrosse: Welcome

In 2004, a group of Fletcher students decided that they wanted to start a lacrosse program at their school.  With the help of school administrators and volunteer parent coaches, this group of boys began practicing and playing as the Fletcher Lacrosse Club.  They soon outgrew their volunteer coaches, and needed a full-time coach.  Former college player Josh Covelli was soon hired as the boy’s lacrosse coach, and has guided the team since its first season.  In 2006, the club became a fully sanctioned team sport at Fletcher, and was soon competing against the best schools in the area.  Since its inception, the team has worked hard, and as a result, has had a winning record every year but last.  In the spring of 2009, the Fletcher lacrosse team graduated the last of the original group of players, and has begun passing the tradition of excellence to a new group of lacrosse enthusiasts.
Not to be outdone by the boys, a group of Fletcher girls started their lacrosse club in 2005, and were coached by Glen Gallagher.  With the boys’ team, Fletcher’s girls’ team became a sanctioned team sport in the Duval County School system in 2006, when they were coached by Jessie Mueller.  Like the boys, the girls’ team has never had a losing season, and has made the playoffs every year.  This year, the team is coached by Molly Bole, a former Fletcher and college player.  The girls’ team has produced a college lacrosse scholarship winner in Romy Sidelsky, who now plays for University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  Last year, the girls were undefeated through the regular season, and advanced to the second round of the State playoffs, where they lost 16-10 to area power Bartram Trail High School.

Both teams are supported by a strong group of parents and volunteers who work throughout the school year to organize fund raisers and end-of-year activities, assist the coaches and students, and who also work each game to keep statistics, announce the games, record the games through photography and video, and notify parents of upcoming events.  For the Boys team, please contact Brett Godard at bg@godarddesign.com, and for the Girls team, please contact Coach Molly Bole at thegrayhorsemb@aol.com if you have any questions.
