Joint League Update / Information

Flagstaff and Coconino Little Leagues  have collectively agreed to join together for All-star tournament play.  This is primarily due to the low number of teams / players in both leagues, and to improve the competitive quality and experience levels at all levels of play.  This was implemented at the Jr's level last year with excellent results and was approved at the district level for the major league levels for the 2010 season.

A couple of answers to commonly asked questions.

  • A joint operations committee (JOC) was established in the fall of 2009 to become the governing board for decisions and rules that oversee all joint play and the selection process.  These rules were established and adopted by each league board and will be in effect for the 2010 season.

 

  • The JOC is represented by two members from each leagues board (FLL- Mark Wilson & Rich Fordyce) and will make any necessary decisions regarding outer-league play and or All-star selections should they arrise.  All rulings by the JOC will be final.

 

  • Each year the JOC will review / revise the governing rules should problems or concerns be identified needing addressed.

 

  • This will not impact regular league teams or inner-league play.  The only change will be that our outer-league play will be with Coconino instead of Continental as in the past. 

 

  • Outer-league (with coconino) and inner-league play will determine final standings at the end of the season for All-star manager / coach selections. 

 

  • At the end of the season the team with the best regular season will determine which league has first selection of the All-star team of their choice (12, 11 and 10 year olds).  A coach from the opposite league will then be assigned to give the team a combined coaching presence. 

 

  • All-star manager / coach selections will be approved and assigned by the league board and JOC.

 

  • Each league will have a minimum of 5-6 members represented on each All-star team roster at all three age groups.

 

  • The new joint All-star teams will be called the

                    "West Flagstaff All-Stars"
