FishHawk Soccer TARSA U14 Boys In Top 3!
![]() | |
| TARSA U14B Talons |
The TARSA U-14 Boys team, the"Talons", finished in 3rd place (out of 12 teams) in the Red Division with a final record of 7 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. The team consisted of 16 boys, most of whom had never played with each other until this season. The primary reason for our success can be attributed to the fact that all boys gave 100% effort each and every game they were able to play. After a losing our first game 1 - 0 and tying our second game 0 - 0, the team began to "gel" in the 3rd game. Through pure determination, Andy Wombacher scored a fantastic goal in the final minute propelling the team to a 2 - 1 victory, boosting the team's confidence and providing the spark that ignited a 7-game winning streak. The teamwork improved each and every game and the margin of victory slowly increased going into the Christmas/New Years break.
With only two games left after the break, we entered the final game with a chance to move into 2nd place but lost a closely contested match 1 - 0 to the eventual Red Division champion. The teams greatest statistical achievement was that we finished tied for the lowest goals against in the division, allowing only 6 goals over the 10-game season.
This was due to the tenacious play of our primary defenders (Glen "GP" Cullen, Andrew Wylie and Danny Cella) and goalkeepers (Andrew "Drew" Zemaitis and Dylan Leon, who split goalkeeper duties and played defense). Also contributing to the defensive effort was Jared Tilghman, who stepped out of his normal midfield position and played 1.5 games in goal with a "clean sheet", and Dawson Moseley who split his time between the defense/striker positions and scored several goals through guts, aggressiveness and a powerful shot. Moving to the offensive side of the team, our third primary striker, Adam Best, bulled his way through defenders to contribute some timely goals. Our "playmakers" in the central midfield (Daniel Lewis II, Sean McElerney and Richard Wendt) not only created numerous scoring opportunities with some deft dribbling/passing, they also scored 1/3 of the team's total goals, as well as contributing to the defensive effort by controlling the middle of the field (only one goal was scored against the team the entire season from their area of defensive responsibility). Our "runners" on the wings (Alex Demers, Tyler Hammock, Christian Helenius, Garrett May) also contributed some timely goals and contributed to our defensive success by tracking back and protecting the weak side and covering for their teammates.
The Fishhawk Soccer Club was very well represented by this OUTSTANDING group of boys not only by the effort they put forth playing soccer, but by the way they carried themselves as individuals in victory or defeat.

FishHawk U12G TARSA Talons Go To Championship!
![]() | |
| TARSA U12G EoS Championship |
FishHawk TARSA U12G Talons ended the 2011-2012 Tampa Area Recreational Soccer Association (TARSA) season at the Championship Game on Saturday afternoon in West Pasco, FL today. The Talons have had a tremendously successful run all year and culminating today as they rose to the top of their age group, defeating every other team in regular season, to play the Cobras, the TARSA No. 2 team from Tampa Bay United.
There were two games played today - our Talons were successful in the morning game against the East Pasco Slimeballs defeating them 3-0. Unfortunately, in the afternoon, we fell just short in the final against the Cobras, 2-1.
Our girls played their hearts out, and we are so very proud of all of them. The girls gave everything they had, but the Cobras had just a bit more. Each and every one of our Talons have so much to be proud of, so much talent, and all the right attitudes to continue being great athletes. Although the one Championship game did not go our way today, the Talons have been at the TOP of the league for the entire season over the past 5 months ~ now that's an accomplishment to be proud of!
As we finish out the regular season, we look forward to having one more go of it together at the Brandon Cup Tournament next weekend as a way of capping the season (and maybe snatching that championship trophy). This is not the end, but the beginning!

FishHawk Soccer TARSA U12 Girls Have Perfect Season!!!
![]() | |
| TARSA U12G @ Gasparilla 2012 |
Our "Talons" performed absolutely brilliantly this season - they went UNDEFEATED with a perfect 10-0-0 record!
All 13 of the team worked hard together to control, possess, and fight through 10 highly competetive matches averaging an extraordinary 5.6 goals per game. This is an historical event for the FishHawk Soccer Club!
The team is the #1 seed for the TARSA End of Season Tournament beginning this Saturday 1/28 and the front runners to being the 2011/2012 TARSA U12G Champions.
Over the weekend of January 15/16, the Talons participated in the Gasparilla Tournament hosted by Tampa Bay United at Ed Radice Park. In the end, the Talons took 2nd Place overall after tying the championship game 1-1, but then being outshot during Kicks From the Penalty Mark. It was an exciting game like no other.
A hearty CONGRATULATIONS goes out to all the girls for a sucessful season and Best of Luck to them in the TARSA EOS Tournament!
Go Talons!!!
