George Kiefer’s USF Soccer Camp Comes to FishHawk

George Kiefer’s USF Soccer Camp

FishHawk Soccer Club was fortunate to have recently hosted one of George Kiefer’s USF Soccer Camps. The soccer camp was a great success with over one hundred participants who worked hard, learned much, and had a great time.
According to Fred Dikranian, Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at USF, there were two main goals for the day camp. First, the staff wanted every player to have the best week of soccer camp that he or she had ever experienced. Second, and just as important, the camp staff wanted the participants to learn a great deal. The idea was to make the learning process as exciting as the game itself. To achieve these goals, the coaches devoted effort and took pride in teaching every camper at least ten soccer moves, in a fun-filled environment, that would ultimately help him/her become a better, more confident soccer player. Emphasis was placed on improving every player’s technical proficiency and comfort level on the ball. While doing so, the USF camp staff encouraged the players to take risks and be creative, even if it meant making mistakes.
USF brought an impressive coaching group to the camp, including USF Head Men’s Soccer Coach, George Kiefer; Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach, Fred Dikranian; current soccer players, Santi Alexis, Aubrey Perry, Christian Gonzalez, Kevin Olali, Shawn Chin, Alex Spock, Noel Panero; and former players, Armante Marshall and Tony D’Oyley. A huge thank you is due to these fine coaches and players who took the time to work with the camp participants and made the experience rewarding for everyone.
USF Soccer has made a lasting impression with young soccer players and their families in the FishHawk community. Coach Dikranian said, “it is a great experience for a youth player to come to our games and say, ‘Hey, that’s Coach Tre out there. He was my coach at camp!’ I am very hopeful that the FishHawk community will come out and support our team this fall.” To further the relationship between the FishHawk community and the USF soccer program, USF Men’s Soccer is hosting for the first time ever FishHawk Soccer Night for its home opener on the 1st of September. The event will showcase FishHawk youth soccer players in a game during half time and also as ball boys/girls. Tickets for FishHawk Soccer Night will be on sale at the Hawk Park Fields and the FishHawk Sports complex concession stand. FISHHAWK SOCCER CLUB “SHOOTS IT OUT” AT BRANDON 4th OF JULY PARADE

The FishHawk Soccer Club “had a ball” at the Brandon 4th of July Parade. Despite the rainy weather, the Club cheerfully marched in the parade with an inventive soccer field float, complete with “grass,” goals, a referee and players. More players marched alongside the float, dribbling soccer balls and passing out candy and toys to parade watchers. FishHawk Soccer Club finds many opportunities throughout the year to stay involved in the local community while having a great time.

First Week Of USF Soccer Camp a Huge Success

On June 14-18, several of our FishHawk soccer players participated in the first week of the USF Soccer Camp that was held at its campus in Tampa. Throughout the week, the players were challenged with many new drills, including ones that helped them improve their dribbling and ball handling. They also focused on one of the most important components in soccer – team work. The campers all had a great experience and a lot of fun with the coaches and players from USF and other fine schools. We hope that many of you will join us July 19-23 for the USF Soccer Camp that will be held at our very own FishHawk Soccer complex. Space is still available. For more information and to register, please go to www.usfsoccercamps.com
