The New Jersey Fire Hawks Baseball Team of Pequannock NJ is looking for some serious High School Level (16-18u)baseball players that are eager to commit their time playing baseball on a competitive Spring “Sunday” travel team.
The Fire Hawks are looking to bring aboard additional players to round off the spring roster. Preferably positions OF, 2B, SS, P, and C players. Pitchers are of special interest. Please inquire, Team Manager: Rich Maloney on email: FIREHAWKS@OPTONLINE.NET .
2009 Spring Fire Hawks Baseball team
The team plays 9 inning baseball games on Sundays in the Cerbo Baseball High School wood bat league. Most players are 16 -18 years old. The majority is 17 or 18 years old. To be league eligible you just need to be 18 or under as of April 30th 2009.
We only play baseball on Sundays from the last Sunday in March till the first week in June (approximately 8 games.) We usually skip playoffs due to summer baseball. (Summers our players play for there towns American Legion or other Summer League activity.) I treat the team as a competitive club team however most of us look at this as an opportunity to play an extra 9 Innings of baseball (Many of our past games have gone extra innings.) If we play a double header it will be 7 Innings. I roster bat and work players in and out of positions during innings, some positions are held steady depending on playing ability. I try to treat each player equally.
I commit to roster 13 to 14 regular Sunday players and possibly one call-up league rostered player. I use a call-up player In order to avoid forfeits and to help ensure we continue to play baseball each Sunday. last year they were not called on to often. I used two players once or twice the whole season.
We will hold two preseason Sunday practices in March and then we just play Sunday baseball games. No practice during the season due to HS Baseball schedules.
The Fire Hawks play within the area and travel most times up till 40 min, 50 min radius, of Pequannock. Most of our Spring games are played on the JV field at Pequannock High School, in Pompton Plains NJ. This is our home field.
I need a commitment from returning players by first week in February (In order to place uniform part orders.)
