Fury stay hot and take NSA States Championship

The 14u Firecracker Fury Gold added another title, NSA State Champions, as the ladies put on another display of pitching, defense and hitting in winning the tournament.  The Winner Bracket Final and Championship games were a pair of great games against the Firecracker Fury Red, and once again highlighted the depth and talent of the organization.  Congrats to Ray and the Fury Red!!!

It was a team effort up and down the lineup as everyone contributed and showed that the Fury will be a team to contend with at PONY Nationals starting next week in Cary, N.C.  The team is peaking at the right time and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead!

Fury add Lowell All American Championship to list of titles!

Say what!

On a steamy July 4th weekend the Fury ladies, in true Firecracker form, put on an explosive display of pitching, defense and hitting to capture the All American that featured some of the best teams in New England. The tourney opened with a Friday morning game against the Hurricanes in a rematch of the ASA State Championship game that was a thriller.   The Fury prevailed 5-4 in the 8th inning in ITB, where Brooke Hardy made one of the better diving catches you will see.  Top of the 8th inning, and 1 out, flat out on a line drive gap in left center, she dove and caught the ball, and fired the ball in to keep the runner at third, and the team got out of the inning unscathed.  Alyssa Williamson, who pitched a great game for all 8 innings then ended it with a single to score Brittany Mcnulla to end the game!  The Fury earned the #1 seed by winning all 5 games in Pool play.

Sunday, with a new look middle infield with Chelsey Drew and Brooke Hardy switching places and both playing great all day, the defense and pitching took over.  Alyssa Williamson, Makenzie Marr and Brittany Camara were dominating all day, and Brittany McNulla was phenominal in picking off 2 kids and shutting down any thoughts of a running game!  Kenzie McCabe continued her great play at 3rd and with the bat smoking numerous big hits.  Mac Kerouac was flying all over the place as usual, and stepped up with some big at bats.  Tayla Varney had a couple of big hits and a timely RBI, and Sarah Drazin made some big plays in left, and it was all ended by Chelsea Caynon who hit a monster 250 foot walk-off homerun to mercy the CT Eliminators 12-4 in the Championship game!  The Fury beat the RI Thunder Gold in the semifinal 5-3(2) in a heated battle to say the least!  The quarter-final matched up the Fury against the Rochester Slammers and Fury won 9-0 and the first round was a 8-0 Fury win over the Frozen Ropes from Maine.

Fury battle all the way through losers bracket but run out of gas in Final against tough Hurricanes team!

The Fury dropped the Friday opener of the NH ASA State Championship to the Invasion to make the road very difficult to repeat as 14u State Champs!  The Fury did battle all the way back winning 8 straight elimination games, including 5 straight on Sunday with no breaks, just to get back to the Championship round.  The ladies really fought hard and sent home 7 teams from the tourney with everyone stepping up all weekend.  Brittany Camara, Alyssa Williamson and Mackenzie Marr all pitched phenominal on Sunday rotating innings to stay fresh.  Brittany McNulla caught the lions share of the innings as was her usual self, but Chelsea Caynon and Sarah Drazin also stepped up and gave Britt well earned breathers!  Kenzie McCabe, Mac Kerouac, Brooke Hardy and Chelsey Drew all played and hit well all weekend.

In the Final the Fury run ended when the Hurricanes and Jurnee Ware shut down the offense and the 'Canes won a blow out 10-1.  Congrats to the Hurricanes!

Fury bats melt in Championship game vs Twisters in Maine 16u Tourney

The Firecracker Fury stepped up to play 16u in Scarborough Maine this past weekend and cruised through pool games and the first 2 elimination games, before running into the M.V Twisters in the Championship game.

The Twsiters roared out to a 5-0 lead in the first as the Fury ladies came out flat after sitting around most of Sunday watching ITB games on the other field.  The Twisters played a great game, with good pitching, defense, hitting and coaching and the Fury bats went silent as the team dropped the game 10-3, after outscoring the opposition in the first 5 games 43-8...Congrats to the classy Twisters as they earned this title with a 10 inning ITB game to get to the Championship game!

Fury can't get past Jersey Jaguars in Orange Crush tourney

The Firecracker Fury ran into the stiffest test to date in Delaware when they battled the very talented and well coached Jersey Jaguars.  In a classic game that had so many emotional swings it was like watching a Red Sox vs Yankee playoff game...the Jags prevailed in the bottom of the 5th inning(80 minute elimination games???) 4-2 scoring three runs after the Fury fought back to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the 5th. This game in all likelyhood should've been the Championship game, but the Fury dropped pool games to the Jags, and a heartbreaker to the hometown Orange Crush despite hitting 4 homeruns in that game and drew the Jags in a second round matchup!  The Jags cruised the rest of the way to the Championship!

Kudos to the Jags and the Fury ladies for putting on such an entertaining game, and I'm sure these two heavyweights will cross paths again in PONY and/or ASA Eastern Nationals.

Congrats to Brittany Camara, Chelsey Drew, Chelsey Caynon and Sarah Drazin who all went deep with over the fence shots and the whole team put on an offensive display in Delaware!

Fury take 6th straight Championship in dominating fashion
The 14u Firecracker Fury added the Memorial Day Classic to the streak as the ladies have now won 6 straight Tournaments.  With a display of dominant pitching, hitting and defense, the Fury outscored the opposition 61-2 with 4 shutouts.  Once again, everyone contributed, and it was a total team effort.  Congratulations to the Fury and keep the train rolling!

Firecracker Fury Gold start 2010 the same way 2009 ended...Championship in Plainville!

The 14u Firecracker Fury Gold won the season opening April Fools Fest in Plainville this weekend with a power surge!  Chelsea Caynon smoked 5 Homeruns over the fence on Sunday alone, and Gianna Hathaway hit 2 as well.  The team played near flawless defense and got great pitching from Mackenzie Marr, Alyssa Williamson and Brittany Camara.

The Championship game was against the Firecracker Fury Red and was a testament to the organization to be fielding 2 quality teams!  Congrats to Ray and the ladies and the Fury Red!!!!
